We are in the midst of a fight over the founding of and meaning of the United States. Were I advising the President of the United States, I would argue he should not accept his Republican nomination from the south lawn of the White House. He should instead stand on Old North Bridge where the first shot of the revolution was fired or at Yorktown where the British surrendered their claim to our destiny. He should make this campaign about defending the goodness of America.
