Now that we have had the DeSantis vs Newsom debate, Republican primary voters deserve the Nikki Haley vs Ron DeSantis conversation. I am formally inviting both of them to Atlanta to have this conversation moderated by me. Without the distractions of Vivek or an obnoxious audience, let’s have a conversation between these two candidates about the issues Republican primary voters care about.
I love this idea. I am still under the belief that once we get to a two-man race, Haley or DeSantis can beat Trump. Also, I believe this will not be 2016 again. In 2016 by Super Tuesday we still had a of people in. I hope that after SC we will be down to a 2 person race. After Super Tuesday, we had John Kasich hurt Ted Cruz by going after him and taking 7 to 8 % of the vote when we were down to a 3 man race. This time I believe that Haley or DeSantis will drop out sooner. Also, I believe that the NJ governor will drop out after NH. Vivek Ramaswamy AKA Trump JR/ Little Trump is welcome to stay in because he hurts Trump. Once we are down to a two-person race I think Trump loses.
I learned more about Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis last August when they sat with Erick and shared who they were and what they stood for. I have learned nothing about them from the debates for a simple reason - I have not watched them. The debate forum is more about assasinating the character of the opponent(s) than it is about informing the voter. I applaud Erick for having the guts to invite Haley and DeSantis to have a conversation. I appeal to Mrs. Haley and Mr. DeSantis to accept Erick's invitation and to avoid attacking each other. We already know that they think themselves to be the superior candidate. They do not have to tell us that, but they should be able to tell us why they are the superior candidate and to do so as if they were the only candidate.
Fabulous idea. I am someone who is no longer interested in Trump (was never a big fan anyway but vote for him because we were stuck w/him as the nominee) but I will not vote for him again even if it means voting for no one for president - so I fervently hope a DeSantis or a Haley can somehow capture the nomination . I just wish the RNC was as skilled as the DNC was in 2020 at coalescing behind a palatable candidate. I hope the format is conducive to substantive answers, too and I'm fine with cutting off someone's mic if they run too long.
That being said, if this event comes to pass, PLEASE ask each candidate what they would do to stabilize social security. As someone rapidly closing in on retirement years, it is a question of utmost importance to a lot of us and it's getting almost zero attention from candidates. Whoever has a realistic plan to shore it up that doesn't penalize current recipients or those close to claiming it (since we've based all our financial decisions for decades on receiving what we paid into the fund to receive, and have no time now to course-correct) will go a long way toward getting my vote.
Excellent idea, hope they do it. In debate please give them time to actually answer a question or explain. Tired of sound bites. I realize Hannity strong DT camp was more interested in showing differences between Red & Blue policies results than in reining in Newsom but his continual interruptions & talking over DeSantis was extremely annoying. Then DeSantis started in order to finish or call out lies. If not for captioning on I would have missed some of what DeSantis said. We the voters deserve better than what we are getting on debates. Now with AI, fake media I want to hear from them. Was interesting to see Newsom, was definitely - I play a politician on TV performance.
I learned that when I was in college and listened to Kennedy - Nixon on the radio. ( Yes, I am that old )
Never could figure out why the majority of listeners felt that JFK won rather than Nixon until I later saw the TV clips.Appearance overcame everything else, if you just listened Nixon clearly won.
Primarily for all the DT haters Right? If one doesn't already have a very good idea of who DeSantis and Haley are and their positions', they have not been paying attention. You can then probably see more 180s than Joe Lieberman's dive off the board with.
Erick! Please make this happen!!! Other than your show, I'm still waiting to hear substantive information, not just "I'm better than Trump and Biden". I like both DeSantis and Haley, and at this point would vote for either one. Please help us decide!!!!

I would love this. I would make time to watch and or listen. That's likely why it won't happen unfortunately, but it would be great.
