I continue to wonder at the assertion that "MAGA Republicans" and by extension all Republicans and conservatives are a "threat to democracy." While the assertion is frequent, I have yet to see the case made as to why. I guess because the WaPo and others make the assertion we are just supposed to accept it. I would be curious to see someone make the case is such a way that Progressive Democrats are not caught up in the same argument as a "threat to democracy."

If some of the more rational Dems fail to denounce this rabid eliminationist rhetoric Republicans should view this as a point of no return

We have passed the point of NO RETURN with the past election.

Historically spot on. Very nice.

No matter what one's position is on Biden or Trump, I can't imagine anyone who is honest denying how bad the optics of this staging was. And that's without considering the content of the speech. Nobody who is over 30 could possibly look at that stage and lighting and not immediately think of a third reich speech setting.

The amazing part of this is that there were actual people who thought of this, people who presented it, and people who approved it. I mean, they spent 6 months doing focus studies on "Ultra-MAGA" and seemingly couldn't spare 5 minutes to consider the optics. We know Biden had no actual say in it because, well, we know that thinking isn't exactly his thing. I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist but it sure look likes someone who may or may not be an ex-President and reads Rules For Radicals in bed at night might be calling the shots here.

I'm a conservative who voted for Trump twice and hope I'm not faced with this choice in 2024. But in the meantime, should I be on the lookout for an F-15 over my house, FBI raids, audits, riots at my door, or what? What a horrendous speech by a dreadful little man.

The entire spectacle last night was disturbing on so many levels. Biden needs to be impeached. He’s a danger to our Democracy. Plus he’s incompetent to boot.

Erick idk if u read these comments from paying subscribers , but I had been shocked when you , on your Athens show , said before the prez election that you thought Biden was generally a pretty “nice guy”. And while abortion is about # 32 on my list of important policy, I don’t know how a SUPER pro life guy like you could say generally speaking you thought Biden was a fairly “nice guy”. U know , since he was all for 60 million murders since 1970 or so. It seems maybe now you see that he’s not such a “nice guy”. I guess it took the red lights and marines in background and visceral speech last night to change your mind.

As I've said repeatedly, if you and Biden were to have a beer together you'd enjoy his company. I can vehemently disagree with someone in politics and consider them nice in person at the civic level. Your loss if you can't.

Is abortion really a political issue ??

I don’t think I know anybody who thinks the regular run of the mill murder of an adult is a “political” issue. It’s more of a moral, societal decay issue. Any and every issue eventually leads back to politics in some form or fashion if you try hard enough. But really, you are just gonna lump the murder of a fetus in as a “disagree with someone in politics” issue??? Child mutilation gender surgery is just a “disagree with someone in politics” issue?? Gotcha

If someone murdered one of your children, would that be a “political issue”. Of course not. So why is the murder of 60 million children a “political issue” ? Could you drink a beer on a “civic level” with a murderer, child molester etc etc etc if they were a fun person to be around in a pub?

Seeing Joe walking out with the flags and the Marines in the background... I kept hearing the music from Star Wars whenever Darth Vader showed up.

I agree with what you say here, but the Republicans who refuse to let go of the person Trump aren't helping. Keep the policies, but Trump is and always will be for himself (reminds me of the dwarfs in C.S. Lewis's The Last Battle: “Well at any rate there’s no Humbug here. We haven’t let anyone take us in. The Dwarfs are for the Dwarfs." Actually, in reviewing that passage, I think that's exactly what has happened to some of the Republican leaders. Tell me what you think:

“Aslan,” said Lucy through her tears, “could you – will you – do something for these

poor Dwarfs?” “Dearest,” said Aslan, “I will show you both what I can, and what I cannot, do.”

He came close to the Dwarfs and gave a low growl: low, but it set all the air shaking.

But the Dwarfs said to one another, “Hear that? That’s the gang at the other end of the

stable. Trying to frighten us. They do it with a machine of some kind. Don’t take any

notice. They won’t take us in again!” Aslan raised his head and shook his mane. Instantly a glorious feast appeared on the Dwarfs knees: pies and tongues and pigeons and trifles and ices, and each Dwarf had a goblet of good wine in his right hand. But it wasn’t much use. They began eating and

drinking eagerly enough, but it was clear that they couldn’t taste it properly. They thought they were eating and drinking only the sort of things you might find in a stable. One said he was trying to eat hay and another said he had got a bit of an old turnip and a third said he’d found a raw cabbage leaf. And they raised golden goblets of rich red wine to their lips and said “Ugh! Fancy drinking dirty water out of a trough that a donkey’s been at! Never thought we’d come to this.” But very soon every Dwarf began suspecting that every other Dwarf had found something nicer than he had, and they started grabbing and snatching, and went on to quarrelling, till in a few minutes there was a free fight, and all the good food was smeared on their faces and clothes or trodden under foot. But when at last they sat down to nurse their black eyes and their bleeding noses, they all said: “Well at any rate there’s no Humbug here. We haven’t let anyone take us in. The Dwarfs are for the Dwarfs.”

“You see,” said Aslan. “They will not let us help them. They have chosen cunning instead of belief. Their prison is only in their own minds, yet they are in that prison; and so afraid of being taken in that they cannot be taken out. But come, children. I have other work to do.””

Thank you. I haven’t read that in a very long time but have often thought of it when encountering or hearing of those who refuse to hear.

Uncle Joe, the great divider accuses MAGA (Deplorables) of destroying America. He forgets that he and his PROGRESSIVE democrats are in power, not MAGA. It’s their PROGRESSIVE policies that have led to inflation, crime, open borders, the politicizing of the FBI, ATF, DOJ, and the IRS. This is the road to socialism and eventually communism. Whatever the left accuses the opposition of doing is what they are actually doing. Never fails, you can bet your life on it.

Erick, you expect intellectual honesty out of the Left and you won't get it. The goal posts are on wheels, this is always somehow (D)ifferent, Orange Man Bad, and pay no attention to what you saw with your own eyes. You are spot-on about education being the lynchpin for Republicans. If we do not capitalize on that and retake the American educational system now, we will rock over the tipping point and plunge into decline that ends as it did for Rome once the mob took over.

Joe Biden is a pathetic and corrupt man. A failure as a leader, a little girl toucher, and the father of an alleged criminal. History should not judge him kindly.

What a sad time. A president who believes killing children is fine, that doing the very things he accuses everyone else is doing, and then has the audacity to use God's name at the end as if he will never stand to give an account for what he has both said and done. Someone needs to tell him he is walking on a spiders web over a deep dark burning pit. It is a frightful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Pray for him and for our nation. He was placed in his role by the almighty, and we are commanded to pray for him. I also pray that come November the change everyone hopes for occurs, even it is followed by a slew of Presidential vetoes. Pray that the new leaders actually return the country to considering what it means to say "God Bless America".
