In Michigan, Congressman Peter Meijer (R) is up for re-election. He is being opposed in the Republican Primary by a man named John Gibbs. Meijer voted to impeach Trump and Gibbs has Trump’s endorsement. Meijer is a veteran and one of the congressmen who sneaked into Afghanistan to see how the withdrawal was coming. Much of what we know about the disaster that was the Afghan withdrawal comes from Meijer’s first-hand observations and his talks with soldiers on the ground.
But if the Trump and Dem backed candidates win it's proof the electorate, the people, are stupid. It's justification for violence. Violence as a campaign tactic for 2024.
Ah, what a mess we are in. If, as one of the comments says, "all politicians are whores" it means that no one principled would ever run for office. What a sad thought. Fortunately, I like to believe there are those that see the role as one of service, not a way to become wealthy and wield power. There is a verse that states, let not many be teachers, knowing they will incur a stricter judgement. (James 3:1) I suspect that leaders too will have a special accounting. I hope that those leaders realize that they were given a role of service, and it is my prayer for them that when they face the Lord, they will hear those words that sum up what is truly a valuable life, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant." I may not understand why Peter Meijer voted to impeach President Trump just as I do not understand why President Trump did not support VP Pence who had been such a faithful servant for the president. Each of these leaders will need to give an account for their actions. Let's hope, that we get the opportunity to put into power people that understand they will give an account for who they were serving....the people or themselves.
But just because it is probably not principled for Democrats, does it make in not principled for Cheney and Kinzinger? I do not think so. One's principles should not be dependent on others'.
They're playing within the rules, and unfortunately there are too many voters who just don't understand what's at stake here. God Bless the United States of America and our Constitution. Keep up the good fight Erick. I'm losing hope.
Fifty years ago, my elderly neighbor in Brooklyn gave me great political advice. It took me years to appreciate it. She had worked at City Hall in NYC and knew everyone.

I wouldn't have voted to impeach president Trump and I think the Jan 6th Capitol takeover was wrong. I appreciated Ben Carson's endorsement of Gibbs, but your post gives my pause about my primary vote next Tuesday. As a Christian I will vote principal and character over party every time. Let us continue to pray for America.
I know you like Cheney, and I respected her parents. However, she and Kinzinger (check out his tweets) are at best useful idiots. They’ll both have a slot on MSNBC next year.
