"Now the Attorney General, who’d be on the Supreme Court but for Trump,"

Actually, I'd say its due to Mitch McConnell, who wouldn't hold a hearing on Garland.

Amen! Well said.

Erick - I have to disagree with you here. Are you basically stating that there are laws for the average Joe citizen, and then laws for politicians? It sure sounds that way to me. Ms. Clinton, if she were an average working person, who had access to TS materials as she did, and did what she did with them, would be in prison at this time, and remain there for a long long time. And further, the company that she worked for at the time she had this information would at a minimum have been severely fined by the US Government, if not temporarily or even permanently barred from doing business with the US Government as a result. And for former President Trump - to remove files, and then say - oh, I've decided that these are no longer classified - even if he did it when still if office - was not allowed. But I guess you support the "same but different" rule of law now.

Wait, didn't you just say a few weeks ago you invite Donny to the "conservative" pow-wow you were planning? I'll believe the "we need to move on" rhetoric when you 1) stop platforming him or 2) publicly refuse to vote for him when he runs again in 2024 because Republicans were too cowardly to actually dump this loser

I agree trust in our govt is in short supply. Since the FBI refused to let Trumps lawyer observe the search and also had all surveillance cameras turned off, we really have no proof where the documents came from. I do not believe anything the FBI says. They have lied to many times.

It would not surprise me if #45 knew this raid would happen IF he held the requested boxes IN ORDER TO get the spot-light back on himself. I am willing to admit, as Erick has, that I didn't vote for DJT in 2016, but ONLY BECAUSE the night before the election it appeared GA would lean toward him. I voted the Libertarian candidate. I did support him in 2020, but I know many people who left that vote blank and down ballot voted republican. Character matters. Back to the raid comment; he must have known if he didn't comply this would be the result and it gives him the attention he so craves. If DJT really loves this country he would ride off into the sunset shouting, "I TOLD YOU SO!" and let the likes of Desantis take up the mantle of draining the swamp. That's what this really is all about especially in light of The Chevron decision. With the right leadership the Washington "administrative state" could systematically be taken apart giving back the country to the voters. This administrative state will stop at NOTHING to keep their power though. God Bless America!

Thank you for your thoughtful and well considered comments. What an aspiring goal, to work for and create “domestic tranquility”. Do we have any political leader on our horizon who strives for such a society? May it be sooner than later for the good of the country.

Love Trump's policies, but his persona is a stench. Should he run again (and all indicators point to yes), he will bestow upon us, once again, an administration that is hamstrung with the other side opposing his every initiative and getting very little done and the inevitable revulsion of Trump the person resulting in a D administration in 2028. The American people don't need another 4 years of dithering, as we are dithering ourselves into oblivion. Instead, I would prefer to find a good candidate (DeSantis) who can serve a full 2 terms, supported by a legislature and judiciary that can turn this ship of state around. The US has been tacking left and right for so many years that we are going nowhere while our adversaries are not waiting for us to get our s*** together. And if we don't soon, they will be eating our lunch. The Chinese have already bought our lunch box (Smithfield, millions of acres of farmland). Trump, for the good of the country, should forego his ego and put his full support behind a worthy candidate that can serve 2 full terms.

Agreed, but they won’t. Maybe this all needs to blow up Erick. Not advocating for it, but maybe it does. There has been too much cheating, too many shenanigans. All while the middle class takes it in the neck…from both sides.

You raise a great point Erick, but what do we do about the problem that there is a set of rules for regular people to which the governing elites are immune? I am not trying to be snarky by asking, is it sufficient that they are accountable to the voters?

Expand full comment

The elite have always played by different rules throughout history. We're just more mindful of it now. That said, we should hold them accountable through votes and some can and should be prosecuted. When you're talking about the presidential nominees of the two major parties, however, prudence is preferable to zealous enforcement of the law, particularly when both sides cling to different insistences on what the facts are.

I'll choke down my vomit a third time and vote for Trump again if he is the candidate. That being said, I very much dislike him on a personal level because there are simply so many things to dislike about him. His policies, and other countries' respect (or fear) for/of us on the world stage were, from my view, without question. The thing is, with our government there are so many seditious actors, spies and turncoats within his own ranks it becomes much more difficult for him to actually do his job. I'd really like to see Desantis as his running mate, if for no other reason than we'd likely be assured to hold the White House for the next 12 years. Then, I think we could really see some great results.

Such stupidity. I am for sustainability but mandating it through force has moved us further from the green future than by providing small steps moving us in that direction. It seems that a group of people believe force is better than persuasion. No one in their right mind can believe that $3 or $4 or $5 gas is going to make us greener faster...it simply is going to make us poorer faster, meaning we can not adopt the more expensive alternative they so desire. This thinking is leading to other amazingly stupid, stupid, stupid actions.

I did not like the "Me., Me, Me, I, I, I" of President Trump, but I did agree with many of his governing principals. He lost the election in the first debate when that "Me., Me, Me, I, I, I, was on full display. It wasn't stolen away (although I believe a lot of crap was occurring) but he has never been able to understand his role in that loss. His personality will not allow him to acknowledge that he lost.

I voted for him in 2020, and if he runs again, I will likely vote for him again. But I had thought it was likely he would not run, because there are so many other excellent candidates that reflect most of what he believes. But what just happened strokes the "Me. Me, Me, I, I, I" personality and makes it much more likely he will run.

For those who desire that, answer me the question as to whether Mike Pence will once again be his running mate? If not, have a real serious look at how an incredibly faithful and supportive individual is thrown aside because he chose to do what was right.

Personally, I hope the former president doesn't run again, but throws his considerable influence behind one of the other excellent candidates. But, what just occurred makes it almost a fact completed, that he will. Stupid Stupid Stupid. Some of the Christians that surround him, need to show him the gospel. He doesn't get into heaven by being a good president. If he doesn't tame the beast "I, I, I" he will never point to the one he should desire to serve. He will truly be a great president if he finally does see, it's not about him. It is about the one who raises up, and brings down. May we all repent...including the one who may once again be called on to serve.

I was a big supporter of Trump for the very reason that he promised to "drain the swamp". My support for him ended when he refused to concede and he started this "stop the steal" nonsense. It is true that the media, democrats, establishment, etc. did everything possible to disrupt and destroy his presidency while he was in office. But, it is time to let it go and move on. I am tired of him being the center of attention 24/7. We need someone like DeSantis that will work to drain the swamp and is intelligent enough to do it without making everything about him.

O thought Trump did a desent job as President. I thing the Dems are crap and downright Anti-American. But that said I do not think Trump should run again.

Trump just might troll everyone for the next year and give his blessing to another candidate before the first primary. He knows that he is hated and feared by the Democrats.

Trump's enormous ego will not allow him to step aside.

This is a first, but I strongly disagree with you. "It is madness to assume either party would lock up the political rival of the incumbent." Last I checked, Lady Justice was blindfolded to administer justice without passion or prejudice. Hillary Clinton verifiably broke the law, and I got that information NOT from the usual flame-throwers on Fox News but from your radio show here in Atlanta. She suffered zero consequences while reinforcing a two-tiered justice system in the process. That impacts domestic tranquility, too. Facts are not feelings; justice, and the facts supporting it, should prevail. Same applies to DJT. If domestic tranquility is our new compass, then where does it stop?? A top-ranking D or R is caught red-handed breaking multiple laws, some of which are heinous and some of which are treasonous, yet we don't prosecute because it's seen as a political move? THAT is madness, IMO.
