To fail to acknowledge that this fall can simultaneously be a referendum on both Biden and MAGA is dangerously naive. For millions in the middle, voting is an act that involves balancing the pros and cons of each side. Biden has a lot of cons, but MAGA does as well. The more the right clings to MAGA, the more the vote this fall becomes Biden vs MAGA. And I would not count on that vote breaking in favor of Republicans.
One PROBLEM, though, is when I try to explain to anyone on the left some of these issues including MSM bias they say that YOU, Erick, are a Right-wing-extremist. Clearly they don't listen to you. I believe MJT may be an extremist on the right. Carlson and maybe Hannity are close to being real right-wing extremists, but YOU Sir Erick are not a right-wing extremist. My pillow guy? Ben Shapiro?
I've listened to it twice now. I might do so a third time. If you are reading this and you are a creature of the Left, listen to what Erick is saying. Hear him. If you do not, you will never be able to get the Right to hear you again. Ever. For those who have ears, let them hear.
As a "creature of the Left," I complied with your request that I listen to what Erick said, and I hereby acknowledge that there are violent wackos on my side of the political spectrum, as well as yours. Now, would you be so kind as to acknowledge something for me:
Fox News is media. The Wall Street Journal is media. Elder, Levin, and yes, Erick, are all media. So when Erick says that "the media" does not acknowledge left wing violence, that really isn't true is it? Because everything he talked about was thoroughly covered in those segments of the media that present a conservative perspective.
Let me acknowledge something else, while I'm at it. The major TV networks, the New York Times, and the Washington Post largely present a liberal/progressive perspective, and Erick is right about their tendency to emphasize conservative misdeeds and de-emphasize those committed by non-conservatives. Being a "creature of the Left," I shall take ownership of them as "my" media.
That said, I would just point out that the Capitol of the United States has been violently attacked just once in the last two hundred years. Power has not changed hands peacefully just once in the entire 230+ year history of our federal government, and whereas violence by some wacko (whether on the left or the right) occurs with unfortunate regularity, the aforementioned two events are utterly without parallel in American history. And yet while the Congressional hearings concerning their investigation were carried live by all of big three TV networks, Fox News (YOUR media) did not. Doesn't that strike you as a little . . . biased?
My point is that there is no such thing as "the media." There is the "mainstream" media and there is "conservative" media, both of which are biased as hell. And that's alright because THERE HAS NEVER BEEN a time in this country when each party did not have certain media outlets that consistently supported their respective views. Surely the list of grievances that conservatives have is long enough to do without this incessant whining about "the media" being biased because, news flash: yours is just as biased as mine.
Neil, let me first say I appreciate your desire to discuss things and that you went to the trouble of listening to Erick's points. His point, which you perhaps missed, is that the Media, what I term propagandistas, of the US are predominantly left-leaning, which I think you acknowledge. However, they do not. They claim to be "fair and balanced without bias" and they clearly are not. That can be clearly seen when they rush to judgment on a fresh atrocity speculating on motives and background when sometimes while the event is still happening. Then, when their speculations are found to be nearly completely inaccurate, the story disappears. On the other side, when their speculations are even partly correct, we hear about it ad nauseum. I won't bore you with examples because Erick did a great job listing those. I will take issue with one comment you said, that the capital hasn't been violently attacked in over 200 years. The very first DuckDuckGO search item proves that incorrect and dramatically so. Here is a link to it from teh History Channel, not mymomsbasement.com
You are being fed a false narrative to drive you to a desired outcome if you believe January 6 was an insurrection designed to topple the US government. It wasn't. The election wasn't stolen. Not in 2020 and not in 2016. In both cases, the candidate was deselected by the American people.
You carry this idea that "yours is just as biased as mine" trying to somehow justify the overwhelming weight of news consumed in this country by "your media" verses the number of people who consume "conservative" media. It is disproportionate. Never mind I reject the premise of your argument on the face of it when ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, The Washington Post, the New York Times, Time Magazine, New Yorker et al have zero intellectual curiosity for anything that makes a progressive look bad but make things up about Donald Trump out of whole cloth because it gets them clicks. Proof? Okay, here's proof. They impeached Trump for "abuse of power" over what he implied in a call but then campaigned and helped get a man elected who admitted doing the exact same thing on a video tape in a talk show interview. They are the exact same, yet one is somehow (D)ifferent from the other.
Want more proof? Okay. Hunter Biden vs Trump's kids. We were told for YEARS the Trump kids business dealings were fair game because they could have undue influence over their father. Nothing, not one single thing was ever found to indicate anything of the sort. However, when the shoe was on the other foot, we have an entire laptop of factual, incriminating communications with all sorts of people including Biden himself that at least warrants closer examination. What did we get when that was brought to light? Actual, factual lies about what the laptop was without one single "reporter" or "media outlet" actually examining it for themselves.
No sir. The playing field isn't unbalanced we aren't even in the same arena. When the people on the left begin to shout about justice for everyone instead of just their guys I'll listen. Until people on the left stop crying about "unconstitutional" actions only when they are about rights they care about I'll listen. Until the Left stops using the Constitution as a club to beat me with when they think something that might be in there is affected rather than when actual, enumerated rights are infringed upon, I'll listen.
You did a good thing. You made an attempt to hear it from my side like requested. Hold your side accountable for their wrong doings and misdeeds, clean them up, and get them back to being something that can be trusted and no respecter of persons and we can talk about "fairness" again. Until then, they are Goebbels-level propaganda artists that can be safely ignored.
This isn't the first post in which I have acknowledged fault on my side. When I offer irrefutable points against yours, I get nothing but the sound of crickets, or in this instance, a long list of grievances that you have to know can only have the effect of widening the distance between us.
JANUARY 6TH IS THE WORST THING THAT YOUR SIDE HAS DONE, and you want to try and tell me that it was just another day in the neighborhood? (Nothing in your linked article prevented a peaceful transfer of power for the first time in our nation's history.) Then you have the temerity to tell me to hold my side accountable for their "wrong doings and misdeeds." Man, are you serious?
You know, I have a theory about you conservatives. You cannot acknowledge any fault whatsoever because once you start down that road, deep down, you know there would be a whole lot further that you would have to go. That scares the hell out of you, so you won't go there at all.
Mark, I could give you an even longer list of things that conservative media does to to wall you and other conservatives off from anything that might shake your allegiance. My ultimate point was that you have your media and I have mine, and neither is really fair to the other side.
My post was an attempt to find some common ground by hearing what your side is saying. Your post is to the effect that you will listen only after my side cleans up its act. Can you not see how that would make me feel that listening to your side was a complete waste of my time, because you would not reciprocate by also listening to me?
At least you answered my question. You did not hear me at all.
It's always (D)ifferent somehow. It's never the Left's fault. The facts that the Right brings never are good enough, right, true, or real. Somehow the left is always pure as the wind-driven snow. I heard every word you said, and refuted it. What you replied with is essentially "we all do it" and "No U!". The left forever tells conservatives we are racist, evil, privileged, misogynistic, and on and on. Until that rhetoric stops and there's respect for the freedoms I hold dear, no we can't have a conversation. The loudest voices on your side are too busy screaming at me telling everyone how I'm evil. I just want to be left alone to worship my God as I see fit, raise my kids as I see fit, grow old, and die in the pursuit of my happiness but somehow if I don't cosign for the things other people do that I find distasteful to the point of ignoring I'm evil. Yes, I want you to fix that on your side. You of course have no intention of seeing any of that as wrong or bad because I'm a straight, white, heterosexual, male who is happy and apparently responsible for everything that ever happened bad in the world from it's founding. Yes, fix that. Then we can talk.
Yes, I see how it is (D)ifferent. Of course it is (D)ifferent. How could I be so stupid and not see the (D)ifference. Sorry. My mistake. Won't happen again.
I acknowledged bias on the part of my media, and still you say, "Somehow the left is always pure as the wind-driven snow." You're really not listening at all, are you?
You said, "[L]isten to what Erick is saying. Hear him. If you do not, you will never be able to get the Right to hear you again." I listened because I wanted you to hear me. But now you say I have to do a whole bunch of other stuff, and then you'll listen. Forgive me if I don't believe you.
Trying to talk to you - to find common ground with you - has been one of the biggest wastes of my time in memory. I hope you and your grievances are very happy together. Cling to them with all your might!
Nuance between you and "The Left" if you can. You keep accusing me of not listening and ignoring the things I'm saying. Who's not listening? Your outright declaration of "biggest waste of time" and ad hominem attacks make my point, at least to me. It's my fault. My problem. My situation to deal with "your media" not yours. You just cannot see the forest for the trees I guess. But, I am appreciative of your trying, thank you.

Still, the DNC propaganda machine masquerading as "journalism".
Knew that was coming...and yes, I still believe it may have been planned that way.
I've listened to it twice now. I might do so a third time. If you are reading this and you are a creature of the Left, listen to what Erick is saying. Hear him. If you do not, you will never be able to get the Right to hear you again. Ever. For those who have ears, let them hear.
