Erick, PLEASE investigate the "rumor" in Washington THAT insiders KNEW the collapse would happen, AND they decided its better to go ahead and get it over with NOW instead of it happening closer to the 2022 midterms. We know the memory of many voters isn't good. God help this country.

I am very disappointed in how this unfurled.

I was on a call with an Afghan leftist activist some weeks ago and he was begging for the US military to stay. Or, if they did not stay, at least be replaced from troops from another country. For a leftist to ask an occupying power to stay is not a small thing.

However, this narrative did not fit our leftist anti-war and anti-imperialist agenda, so we swept it under the rug. I was very disappointed. I understand the anti-war and anti-imperialist perspectives on this issue, but Afghanistan is a different case. We were not there to occupy Afghanistan (it has nothing for us) and anyone who knows Afghanistan knew how weak, afraid, fragile, and yet untrained Afghan national forces were.

The Taliban swept through the country practically unopposed.

I found it very strange that Biden would continue the promise to withdraw from Afghanistan even though it was a horrible idea. If he thought he would win points for bringing our men and women in uniform home, he was very wrong. Any prestige he may have won at home or abroad was wiped away in just a few days.

I'm no fan of Jimmy Carter's Presidency either (My guy beat him in 1980). I used to hate Jimmy Carter. BUT I've come around to believing he's a good guy; a Christian who puts his money where his mouth is. Sunday School teacher for many years. We all need to stop hating people because of their politics. People can be wrong on the issues and still be good people. (Although I still want a "People Are Stupid" coffee cup)...

And, in the current post-modern age where character doesn't matter, to either side, Presidential or otherwise, it seems that Jimmy Carter has been a man of good character.

Your optimism is charming :) . The American public is fickle and has a short memory. IMHO, unless there is a big event next year that rocks us, the events of 2021 will have little effect on the next election cycle.

Erick…..please help me to understand your point when you wrote:

“This is shaping up to be terrible for the Democrats and will give the GOP an opportunity to learn no lessons from 2020.”

Particularly the GOP having an opportunity to learn no lessons from 2020. ?? Thank you.

This is the age of the sound bite and "10-second Tom" (allusion to movie "50 First Dates" - Tom had short-term memory problem, 10 seconds later would say, "Hi, my name is Tom; what's yours?")

We are frenetically hopping from one picture to another, from one narrative to another. This provides spin-doctors the latitude to quickly shift the message from embarrassing story to something the narrative-provider prefers...unless the clicks favor the story the news runs at that moment. Propaganda is balance with capitalism in the news business, sometimes being in opposition to one another. Hence, "journalists" sometimes appear to suffer from multiple-personality disorder as their editors require narrative or ad $$$ on a daily basis.

I share your sentiments on former Chief Exec., Jimmy Carter. Weak as a president but a very compassionate man who set a high standard for serving others through Houses for Humanity! May God bless and strengthen him during his time of need.

Well.....the people wanted the "steady hand" of Joe Biden on the levers of government....they got it. God help us.

That was hysterically funny to me when people would say that in the run-up to the election. It was also painful then to see how stupid people could actually be. Now, NO ONE is laughing ass innocents lose their lives at his "steady hand." I pray every moron who voted for him has trouble looking in the mirror.

I hope so also. I mentioned in an earlier post that I think they should all be forced to have a large B tattooed to their forehead and be ridiculed in the public square.

Pray for Americans in Afghanistan and for Carter. If Carter doesn't recover you've predicted the news cycle to take attention AWAY from the crisis' of the Biden administration. Thanks for your show and writing Erick. Keep up the good work.

Do you think God will answer your prayer for Carter because of the news cycle? Bit uh-Christian and cynical, wouldn't you say?

God has this in control whether I pray or not. Praying for Carter is to ease his journey through the rest of his life. And, by the way, Cynicism is but one of my Spiritual Gifts.
