I don't think Trump can do it. Maybe? Sure. Maybe. But the Left is resurgent again after the Fossil-In-Chief got punted through the goalposts and into the stands. Trump wanted to beat Biden and by all indications he was going to. Now? It doesn't matter how god-awful Harris is. Everyone wants the Not-Trump and we're going to suffer for it.
Haley isn't looking so bad now, is she? If Trump does manage to pull a win out of his nethers, I'll come back in here and apologize to ChazAtl and marvel at Blair's sobbing tears. But I think that Blair is going to have the last laugh this November and doesn't need to worry about the Orange Hitler anymore. Hopefully he enjoys the Cackles Utopia that's coming.
This essay is so incredibly correct it's staggering. Every day, I see on Fox or Newsmax interviews with Americans -- black, white, Latino, Asian -- talking about how the Biden-Harris administration has hurt their families, their neighborhoods, their incomes and several other facets of their lives. And I say out loud, why aren't these people being asked to be on Republican/Trump-for-President campaign commercials???
These are people who can speak to the 60% of Americans who know AND REPORT that their lives were better off during the Trump administration.
Guess who can't speak to them? Trump -- because Americans overwhelmingly don't want to listen to him. They find him uncouth, boastful and selfish. And, the more he's pressured with possible defeat, the more offending (and crazy, as with Brian Kemp's wife) his utterances tend to become.
There should be more campaign commercials, and far fewer rallies, that are mostly useless and often come off as excuses for Trump to exercise his stand-up muscle.
And Trump should be IN the campaign commercials as little as possible. (Have a nice voice at the end say "The Trump for President Campaign approved this commercial.") At the beginning, he can lead off, modestly (!), with, "My fellow Americans, a majority of you have suffered in multiple ways due to the policies of the Biden-Harris administration. Hear what some of your neighbors have to say." Then we go to five or six people of diverse looks and backgrounds -- young, middle class moms (all races), elderly (civil rights leader Robert Wood would be great) as to why they and America cannot safely weather another four years of Harris and increasing far-left Democrats. And how things were better with Trump.
Will Trump's ego allow him to stand back? Tragically, almost certainly not. He believes he speaks the truth to Americans more clearly (and no doubt "perfectly") than anybody else ever could. The 30% of Americans -- those MAGA Republicans -- that near worship him, need to admit Trump can't bring home his own message and convince him to let good people speak from the heart on his behalf.
Wow the comments here are clear of mass psychosis... likely the establishment Democrat machine that owns the media injecting the meme into the heads of Republicans... that Trump is unhinged and thus you should start worrying instead of putting all your efforts to push him to the finish line.
Hard times create strong men that work to create good times that create weak men that create hard times.
We are living in a time of weak men (people). And many of them, unfortunately, are in the Republican party. We saw it during COVID. A nation of handwringing worriers... afraid and no longer bold.
If Harris wins the blame for it will not be Trump... it will be all the handwringing critics of Trump in the Republican party.
The Democrats by example, would not even criticize their vegetable in the White House until he turned it over to another vegetable named Kamala. The Democrats get it. The party needs to win with the designated candidate. The Republicans... well they are really demonstrating the idiocy in behavior that has resulting in consistent losses since W except for 2016.
Just for the record. What you are saying about republicans is exactly why I have predicted from the first that Trump will lose. Republicans and conservatives are simply totally incapable of doing what they need to do to unite to win. They would rather run off screaming in all directions about the defects of the candidate than win with what they have. I hope they can all grow their own food and are pretty self sufficient because they are about to find out that their insistence on losing has serious consequences.
The Democratic Party doesn’t kick out other Democrats even though they don’t agree on all issues and candidates. Today’s GOP isn’t like this. I’ve heard loyal MAGA people say numerous times (both on TV and in print) that the Republican Party is now Trump’s party/their party and Republicans who aren’t in lockstep with MAGA need to get out of the party. Even though I’ve voted Republican for the past 50 years, I am now an independent voter. The Republican Party once-upon-a-time embraced moderates like me as well as conservatives like Erick. How sad that this is no longer true! I wonder how many other once-loyal Republicans have left the party because they have been told to get out.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with being concerned with the wayTrump
Is running his campaign. He is notorious for shooting himself in the foot. I for one wish everyone would see Harris and the democrats for what they are which is the destruction of our country. Maybe a little hand wringing is justified. Ease up
So in Pennsylvania, Democrat Casey is polling significantly ahead of Republican McCormick for the Senate seat. Polling shows that 96% of Democrats support Casey, but only 75% of Republicans support McCormick.
No, it is not Trump that needs to focus. I have a name this morning for the people that are not focusing, but I will not use it at this time.
Seriously, is there anyway we could get someone else like Haley in for the Presidential nominee? Trump just doesn’t seem to understand what the people are begging him to focus on. It is beyond frustrating. I’m afraid we are fixing to lose this election and it is truly Trump’s fault. Vance has been amazing and if Trump does win, he owes it to Vance for staying on point.
It is irrational handwringing like this within the Republican party instead of solidarity behind their party pick that is responsible for the polling. Ya'll are a bag of rocks that Trump is having to carry while the Democrat candidates get hoisted up with enthusiastic helium of their party and Democrat people.
Someone in the WSJ today compared Trump rallies to Greatful Dead concerts back in the day. It’s mostly the same people, wherever the venue. Some have been to dozens. They can’t vote dozens of times in dozens of states.
With minimal information, you make a lot of assumptions about Bill Brockman. Kudos to him for just a "LOL". You're just the ticket to drive away reasonable and polite folks, with those sort of comments. Treating those who would be friends as enemies will not be a winning strategy.
I wonder if Trump now feels that these assassination attempts will continue (hatred of Trump, general lawlessness, inept USSS, deep state actors, whatever) if he's elected, and he wants a way out while saving face.
1) the Reagan 'are you better off than you were for years ago? ad
2) Ads featuring Kamala talking decriminalization of border crossings with pics of Laken Riley, Rachel Morin, Jocelyn Nugarry and the NYFD officers getting assaulted. Then show the immigrants walking out of jail blowing kises and flipping off America
3) Ads showing footage of the Afghan withdrawal, the dude (Jake Sulivan?) saying 'the middle east is as quiet as its been in 20 years' - followed by Hamas' attack in Israel, and the Anti-Israel/pro Hamas rallies.
4) The ad with Kamala talking about 'reimagining' police and how its wrong to equate more police on the street with less crime. (She's right in one respect. It doesn't matter how many officers you have on the streets if you have DAs that won't charge or prosecute the people the officers arrest.)
People want security: economic, personal and national. Trump can gjve it to them again, because he did the first time.
I can't say this loud enough, I so wish that YOU, Mr. Erickson were running Trumps campaign. Mostly I hear you tell us that we are in God's hands and that is what I believe. That the earth won't crash if our candidate is not elected. I get that, but can't help the apprehension that I feel in my gut.. I am scared for my family, for my friends, for my country.
At this moment of uncertainty, it’s time to make a deal with the MAGA base.
If Trump loses again this year, it will be the fourth election in a row he’s sabotaged for the GOP -- five, if we count the Georgia runoffs in 2020, which I do. To paraphrase the great Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, five generations of imbecilic losses are enough.
Any other Republican could have beaten the Democrats’ pro-criminal, pro-illegal, pro-Hamas, anti-civilization Dream Team this year. But despite being denied the pleasure of watching Gov. Ron DeSantis debate Joe Biden’s Border Czar we’re voting for Trump anyway. We’d vote for Zippy the Chimp over Mao and Fidel.
But this is the last @#$%^&* time. In exchange for the votes of those of us who noticed that Trump didn’t build a wall, deport “Dreamers,” jettison the carried interest loophole or end the anchor baby scam (etc.), leaving us with nothing but Trump’s charming personality, you’re agreeing to never run him for president again.
The dead bodies are piling up on Fifth Avenue. Next time, vote for DeSantis, idiots.
Trouble is that Ron deSantis like his fellow Floridian, Marco Rubio and several others like our current and most recent former president are demonstrating the Peter Principle as it operates in electoral politics. https://www.investopedia.com/terms/p/peter-principle.asp
This will be a hard lesson for the Republicans to learn, but they need to learn it. The party is OFF track. The party used to have more conservative values. Those values have slowly slipped away. The things that Mike Pence said were right on. Someone like Glenn Youngkin is who the Republicans should look to. But the party is consumed in this cult of personality.
Ann Coulter the other day:

Sound advice…Trump is the means by which much good can be accomplished and much bad can be prevented. He needs to be leader, and craft his messages along the themes presented plus a strong military and national defense, and sound foreign policy. Needs to be relentless in contrasting his foreign policy with that of the Democrats who are intent in undermining Israel and who are controlled by a growing dependency upon the radical left.
This is why the Dems are seeking to portray themselves as “ moderates” when everyone knows full well they are not.
Nikki Haley’s advice is sound.
Keep in mind that if Kamala wins the Democrats will control appointments to the judiciary for 16 of the past 20 years through 2029. Very harmful to equal protection under the law and sound jurisprudence, especially considering the rather loathsome character of some of their nominees.
This really might be Trump's best strategy for voter turnout. If he loses it will be because of the repubs that don't want him not turning out or not voting the top line. He should come out and say to all of the non-Trumpers in the party that if they deny him the win in 2024 he's coming back in 2028 so they mine as well just suck it up and vote for him.
It wouldn't work on someone like me, but it is the argument that comes the closest to working on me so would probably work on many others.
The DNC do in Chicago is the test. If after Walz is confirmed the Trump apparatus doesn't come out with ad blitz after add blitz and Trump doesn't get on the road and talk issues, it's likely over. He will probably lose if he stays the course.
The Dems kept Biden protected in the basement. They'll continue to insulate Harris ...because, they can. The press will heal and get their head pats...

Most of us are on the same side.
Somebody needs to state the obvious, out loud...
The handlers that were propping up Joe Biden, are now propping up Kamala Harris.
So in Pennsylvania, Democrat Casey is polling significantly ahead of Republican McCormick for the Senate seat. Polling shows that 96% of Democrats support Casey, but only 75% of Republicans support McCormick.

You know nothing about this Bill. The WSJ and you apparently too hate working class people for threatening the upper class looting sandbox.
There is a saying that in democracy people tend to get the government they deserve. By this comment I would say you deserve Biden and Harris.
With minimal information, you make a lot of assumptions about Bill Brockman. Kudos to him for just a "LOL". You're just the ticket to drive away reasonable and polite folks, with those sort of comments. Treating those who would be friends as enemies will not be a winning strategy.
LOL. I’ve voted for the jerk twice and will again. You make me question that.
I wonder if Trump now feels that these assassination attempts will continue (hatred of Trump, general lawlessness, inept USSS, deep state actors, whatever) if he's elected, and he wants a way out while saving face.
Trump should limit his ads to
1) the Reagan 'are you better off than you were for years ago?

Dear Lord we are in Your Hands. Amen
Here is one of the stories - complete with dramatic images - that Trump's team COULD be talking about, instead of schoolyard name-calling. This would resonate with a majority of the electorate: https://www.zerohedge.com/military/taliban-flexes-us-weapons-military-parade-left-behind-biden-harris-botched-afghan-exit

Haley has already begun her '28 campaign.
Also, Kemp has a decision to make soon. Will he run for Pajama Boy's Senate seat in '26, or POTUS in '28? He could also run against Warnock in '28.
Like Wyche Fowler and Max Cleland, Georgia has had a lot of one-term Dem senators since 1980.
Trouble is that Ron deSantis like his fellow Floridian, Marco Rubio and several others like our current and most recent former president are demonstrating the Peter Principle as it operates in electoral politics. https://www.investopedia.com/terms/p/peter-principle.asp
I think DeSantis and Rubio are doing fine in their current roles, but the Peter Principle would be in play if they became POTUS.
Donald Trump might be the living embodiment of this Peter Principle.

Yeah! Bring back more Romneys and McCains... THAT will get the job done.
Sorry, but this is the idiocy of continued losing.
