The Lord told me decades ago that America’s survival wasn’t His primary concern. His concern was souls and I’d that meant America had to fall. But souls would be won and repent.

Furthermore non American lives matter just as much to God as Americans do. It bothers me that so many Christians are so harsh to those coming here illegally. We do need borders but really many are just trying to feed their families. We might do the same thing if we were in their shoes.

It frankly amazes me because many who come are Fellow Christians who could be natural allies if folks actually reached out.

Both candidates have major issues. Both have some good may Gods will be done in this election

Amen again. I wish The NYT would publish this on the front page. A girl can wish, right??

I agree, totally! And, survival of America is not necessarily on God’s list of things to make happen. Plenty of nations have come and gone since time began. God’s plan moves on!

You are so right. My wife and I are reading "The Harbinger II" and as a country we need to repent and turn back to God. I believe that we are currently going through a civil war in this country "right vs left" that has reached unimaginable levels. I remember when I was working with a company that had a plant in Montezuma, GA. There was a vote on unionizing the plant which won by a handful of votes. People and families that had worked together for decades suddenly became divided over the results. The productivity in plant started to decline. Ultimately, the parent company elected to close the plant which was the major source of employment in the county. I am ready for a healing after the election.

Erick is right that God is sovereign and no matter who wins the election God (and those who belong to him) will win in the end. But I believe Erick is wrong that our choices in this election will not greatly impact the US and the world, for better or worse. God is sovereign, but part of his sovereign nature is giving people a choice as to their destiny, as in Joshua 24:15 ("then choose for yourself this day whom you will serve) and Deuteronomy 30:19 ("I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. No choose life").

Trump is neither Moses nor Joshua. But his political policies do represent a clear contrast with the Democratic alternative for both secular issues and for spiritual issues (e.g. abortion and support for Israel). The end times are described in the book of Revelation and it is clear that God (and the nation of Israel) are on one side of a great battle and the rest of the world is against God/Israel. Whatever set of flaws Trump has, he is neither against the God nor the nation of Israel. It is doubtful the same can be said for many of his Democratic opponents, or many of his EU critics.

God's sovereignty is not in doubt. But the wisdom of our country's choice in this election and the consequences of that choice are. If our choices didn't matter to God, he wouldn't have asked us to choose. But he did ask and we do have the freedom of choice. The consequences of a personal choice to accept/reject God are certainly more important than the choices in any political election. But that doesn't mean that the choices in an election are not important. I believe there is a lot of evidence that the world is drifting away from God and perhaps we are rushing toward the great tribulation of Revelation. But God is merciful and he does postpone judgments based on the choices people make (as he did to Nineveh in the book of Jonah).

God is sovereign, undeed, and sometimes uses imperfect men to very out His will. The Old Testament, in particular - but not exclusively -demonstrates that fact. He might use Donald Trump to pull the nation back from the disaster of socialism...or, He might use Joe Biden to punish the nation.

In the latter case, Christians of every stripe would also be harmed, as during Paul's time but we have the consolation of knowing this life is but a mist compared to eternity with the Lord.

If President Trump wins, I think that could signal that God is giving the United States a "second chance" to return to Him. Blessings, Erick.

Amen. I am thankful to the Lord that you have reminded your readers of the truth. May anyone who is not trusting in Jesus Christ come to Him, believing in Him as the Scriptures present Him.

This is the perspective that gives life. As Moses read the law to the children of Israel the admonition was stated , " choose life ". There is zero life in putting our trust, hope and faith in the devices of humans. This is idolatry. We participate fully in the civic life of our nation under the banner of the King who rules over it all. If we would allow our anxious moments to be devoted to BEING life to those for whom Jesus dies (everyone ) the very things we are deceived into thinking can be won by politics will actually happen. Politics is downhill of culture. When the people change the politicians will follow. So why are we following them????? Follow Jesus first, second and always.

Maybe, just maybe God gave us Donald Trump to expose all the corruption in Washington. We the people remember. I believe that this government is so lost in their own selfishness that they can't see their constituents anymore. PLEASE, I DO NOT think that President Trump is any kind of Messiah. I know who my Lord and Master is. I just think that maybe Trump was elected for a reason.

Amen.

God bless you, Erick. God bless America. God bless Joe Biden. God bless Donald Trump.

As for those Republicans such as I, who will not be voting for Trump, the expectation about Biden is not that Joe will enter the presidency as some kind of messiah.

Because we know who Messiah is--the one who healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, called the lame to walk, told his disciples that providing for the underprivileged was the same as providing for him, Jesus . . . who lived and died and lived to tell about it.

We met Him when he stopped us on the road to destruction and said ... hey you! follow me.

And we, like sheep, know the Shepherd.

So we are not expecting to find Biden as messiah.

But what we are anticipating, a day or two after election, is this: Joe announcing with confidence, as Gerald Ford did . . . "our long national nightmare is over."

I think most Republicans and true conservatives will actually find themselves breathing a sigh of relief, because we can begin reconstructing, again, the party of Lincoln and Eisenhower, the party we had before this incumbent infected it with his cult of mammon.

I think Daniel is a good model for us all in these days. The Bible says that Daniel was completely aware of the impending danger that his colleagues would succeed in entrapping him because of his faith. In the book that tells his story, we read, "When Daniel knew that the document had been signed" he went right on worshiping God in the same manner as he had done all his life.

The thing is, the king who agreed to the monstrous law that people should pray only to himself for 30 days loved Daniel. But his ego drove him to agree to that stupid law.

Our leaders all have egos, too. Ego can get the best of anyone at any time. No matter who is elected president, he will have an ego that Satan can tweak, unless he is truly sold out to the Lord Jesus.

We trust in the Lord, not men, at all times. Blessed be the name of the Lord

Hey there Erick, all I could do was to vote, so I did. While everything ‘will be alright’ damage was done in the 8 years Obama was in office. That’s the worry. The damage created in a term is sometimes irreversible in someone’s lifetime. On another topic, will you publish Hershel Walker’s interview please? It was brilliant and genuine and I’d love to hear it again.

Thank you for what you do each day!🇺🇸🙏🏻🇺🇸
