Erick i love your show especially the religious themes at holiday time but I think you are completely wrong on the fish being wet analogy. At lot of us that are skeptical base that on a lack of belief in what we are being told, not that we a dumb fish in a bowl. Hunter Biden recent revelations are an example. And you did not think Trump had a chance in 2016 and to your credit admitted you were wrong the day after the election. I respect you a lot for that and other things. My only reason for posting is to ask you to consider that the reason is not being a fish but just lack of trust. Maybe its wrong to not trust what we are told but I think you are much more astute than me to know what we are told is not always true so the mistrust is not goldfish level irrational. As a Never Trumper/Trump skeptic, I’ll admit I was disappointed when you announced you would be supporting Trump’s reelection, but I decided to hang around anyway. I have appreciated that you will still call a spade a spade, and now when our side seems to be engulfed in insanity (including most of my friends and family to some degree), your stand for reality has inspired me to find your corner of Substack and become a paying subscriber. Bravo and thank you.
You've kept me as a subscriber Erick because you tell me info that I can trust or at least evaluate for myself that isn't just another cookie cutter headline from each side. Example, CNN for 4 years, Trump bad, bad, bad. FOX for 4 years, Trump good, good, good. I feel like I at least try to read and listen to the opposing media so that I can at least assess for myself the bit of truth that lies in the middle. But man, I am shocked by the number of intelligent people i know who get ALL their news from one side or the other and do not think that their media side lies to them. I am fed up on all levels with both sides and the media. I have no party now. I have no idea what to call myself politically. I lean conservative but not on every issue BUT I do NOT then drink the huge glass of koolaid shoved in my face by each side. I'm not really Libertarian because they don't support strong military and foreign policy. So then both sides hate me. This has weighed HEAVILY on me this year. You are NOT allowed to take a middle position on any issue without being HATED by each side. Examples, I wish abortion did not exist and am for sensible limits on it. Why? Because not every person is driven by Christian morals and I feel that if you are a politician and making laws that govern every person, those laws have to reflect ALL the people as much as possible. To understand this, reverse the abortion laws. We've seen the reverse in China. China forced Christians by law to abort children.
Another example that I deal with personally is being a Christian then having a child come out as trans. Wow, talk about getting caught in the middle! I am now equally sick of the Christians who want to legislate against my relationship with my child's endocrinologist by outlawing hormones and surgeries and such as I am sick of the LGBTQ radicals who tell me I should cut anyone who voted Trump out of my life, that they are NAZIS, etc. They say I am not a real ALLY if I don't support EVERY crazy equal rights thing they say! I happen to think that Christian private citizen business owners should be able to serve customers based on their conscience. Just as I would equally support a private gay person's right to not serve heterosexuals for example. I think both sides have really valid points about transgender people using facilities of their chosen sex or participating in sports. But my God, try to suggest a rational middle approach to any issue these days and try saying that there is truth on both sides on an issue and MAN, you become the vilest creature on the planet! If people ask to govern ALL people then I do NOT want radically supporting just one side of an issue then imposing legislation that we ALL have to live with. In your private life, fine. But not if you ask to work for ALL the people. AND BOTH SIDES PREACH THAT THEY HAVE THE MORAL HIGH GROUND. I have countless friends who posted on FB that ANY support of Trump and Republicans makes you AUTOMATICALLY Racist, Homophobic and immoral in every way possible. And I've seen the same thing from the opposite side. No wonder ABSOLUTELY NOTHING GETS DONE IN CONGRESS ANYMORE!!!
Same on Black Lives Matter, blacks killing blacks, immigration and so on. It's ALL OR NOTHING. It's drink that WHOLE glass red or blue Kool-Aid and don't you DARE ask for PURPLE.

Erick, you and I are singing the same song. If I question anything that Trump says or does, I am called ugly names, some of which would make Bill Maher blush. If I present concrete evidence, I am told, "That's the way you interpret it."
As one of the conservatives who believe there was tremendous fraud in this election, I need you, Erick, to inform me about the eyewitnesses and their affidavits and how so many could see things that 'weren't there'. Also, the illegal votes...underage, felons, mis-handled mail in ballots, people who voted more than one time, people who voted in districts they didn't live in, etc. all on a mass scale unlike any time before...did Trump's lawyers and eye witnesses just make it all up? Were there no ballot filled trucks pulling up in the middle of the night? Why did these swing state cities ALL OF A SUDDEN shut down counting at about the same time? I know there is fraud in every election and maybe there wasn't enough to change the outcome of this one. I can live with that. What I'm having trouble living with is the SCALE of fraud, the media meddling, and the tech industries censoring information all coming together in a perfect storm to disenfranchise legal voters and sway the electorate to Biden. I am a Christian and I know God has this....I trust that. But I feel there is MUCH wrong with this election and if it is NOT unearthed, brought to light it will continue on and on and we will lose this country we love. Most conservative media has joined the file “news I can’t trust” in my mind. I don’t believe I have EVER voted for a democrat and probably never will however I have never before been this close to believing that there is not much difference in the two after all. All I see is a power squabble and Republicans whining about rules and tactics instead of forming a cohesive message and making a conservative argument to voters. I blame Donald Trump for Donald Trump’s loss. I am afraid we are living in a culture of people who do not know how to appropriately take responsibility for what that which they are responsible. You have echoed many times what I have been saying in my own circles: a political realignment is here and all of us who are Christ followers will do well to choose wisely how we will engage in it.
