seems that Trump keeps on putting roadblocks in front in the path to winning. these are times that I am glad that I am not part of his campaign staff, I would have to submit my notice to quit.
Erick, you’ve stated many times over that Trump can win if he can manage to practice some discipline. Are you sure you’re saying this to someone he listens to?
Annnnd, when he is his staff going to create a positive ad telling us what positive things he will do that she won’t. That will remind people of what she said, “You’re not running against him. You’re running against me?” Give her some of what she’s giving him.
I have lived in liberal land in a liberal college town for 45 years. I have debated and studied the species for decades and have a self-awarded PHD in "liberal studies".
The problem isn't Harris as much as what Harris represents. What Harris represents is the collective of low capability people that seeks both statism and stasis.
These are people that group together and collaborate to BLOCK others while they accumulate power, income and wealth. Just look at the "We Will Resist" marches against Trump... against the country... it was a collective of mostly privileged educated females from upper class backgrounds.
These are people that are really the opposite of "progressive"... the opposite of dynamists that Virginia Postrel wrote about in her fabulous book "The Future and Its Enemies". Unfortunately this stasis tendency of liberals is shared by some conservatives, and older people in general as they become more change-averse in their old age. These people aid and abet liberals to gain and maintain power only to prevent change to their lives, and then the system starts to decline as there is no real progress made because most solutions to our big problems would have some negative impact on the accumulated power and wealth of the liberal collective in power.
Take a group of people and allow them to self filter into a power hierarchy based on individual merit, and those with liberal tendencies will more often be selected lower tiers.
There are two domains for merit: competence and confidence. Liberals as a species are generally deficient in one or the other. However, there are exceptions. Some liberals are charlatans that have learned that liberals are much easier to manipulate because they feel more than they critically think. So you take someone like Barack Obama... a both competent and confident individual that probably never really held views that aligned with general liberalism, but learned it was where he could better butter his bread.
Harris is not Obama... not by a long-shot. However, she is certainly trying to pattern her political career following his lead... to walk a fake persona act that feigns moderate while holding onto the feelings of the part of the electorate that is frankly emotionally dysfunctional and committed to punching down the rest of the population that would make them feel even less confident about themselves.
Companies, governments... the organizations that influence and direct the lives of the rest of us... they are made up of people with behavior tendencies that are both part of their biology/DNA and also cemented by their life experience. Liberals tend to have different DNA than conservatives. And what has happened is that they have flocked together into the coastal areas and big cities, and reenforced their DNA with shared values and views. They have created a power shell that prevents them from dealing with individual deficiencies in both their competence and their confidence. They have become venerable narcissists within their collective... and use that power to character assassinate the parts of the population that the see as a threat to their happiness... happiness that is always tenuous... at risk of crashing... because they are emotionally dysfunctional and need self-help.
Harris represents this cabal of liberal power that is a threat to the health and security of this once great Republic. Trump understands this in his dinosaur brain.. but he lacks the verbal capability to articulate to the people what we are truly dealing with.
God never intended liberals to be in power. They are supposed to be the people that prevent conservatives from their drift to puritan authoritarianism.
I would like to hear Eric thoughts on Hugh Hewitts latest Fox article. I think this is a slow roll and that average Americans saw a Democrat attempt to rig a debate with biased moderators working with a Kamala to provoke Trump. He had a right to be mad and if he wasn't it would look contrived as much as Kamala. It's not complaining about the refs, its watching them try to throw the entire game. In typical Trump fashion he was wrong but right at the same time. Yes, Kamala won the best political prosecutor running for office but not the presidency. His comment on the Pets was unproven, but is on the menu in many 3rd world countries. That they are eating your favorite water fowl right out of the park is a legit complaint. Along with opening the conversation that importing that many migrants into the community is another Biden/Kamala crisis created...
For a man that professes he knows the “art of the deal”, he is doing his best to lose the deal of being re-elected president! From what I watched of the debate, neither candidate directly answered the (biased) moderators questions and relied on their spin lines. Very sad!
Here's my questions, Erick. Who in the heck is in charge of prepping him for these debates and events? I'm sure he's difficult to manage but really? This could be a slam dunk if he stayed focus and stop falling for the bait tactics. So many missed opportunities the other night. Yes, the moderators were bad but he could've overcome that if he'd just stay on point and nail her on their failed policies. And check his ego at the door! I'm just ready for this election to be over.
Trump was denied his vengeance against Biden, his ego can't handle it. Biden will always be the guy who took down Trump and Trump can never redeem himself directly.
I don't think he respects Kamala and does not consider her a worthy opponent. Frankly understandable.
What he never seems to learn is when you're in the arena everyone else in the area should be taken seriously regardless of what you think about them.
The Capital refused national guard and it was said FBI informants agitated the crowd. Look at some of the videos of capitol police letting in protesters .
The debate really did not matter to me, as I decided on January 6 of 2001 that, as a true Republican, I would do whatever I could to keep Trump from ever being president again. Now Trump is saying he won the debate "by a lot." Any doubt he will do the same (again) if he is defeated in November?
Does this include voting Harris at the top of the ticket? Leaving it blank or going with a write- in is not as mathematically effective in doing whatever you can to keep Trump away from the WhiteHouse.
I watched the first question of the debate, waited for Trump to respond with something like, “Since you didn’t answer the question, let me answer it for you…” - and when he followed her down the same nonsensical rabbit path, I just turned the TV off in frustration to save myself another wasted hour.
I’m truly tired of Trump forcing weak candidates in us … including himself.
I started out watching the debate, listened to that first question and thought, this should be good. I want to hear what she has to say about this. Then there was absolutely no answer. Zilch from the moderators, but then Trump did not say SHE DIDN’T ANSWER THE DAMN QUESTION! Why the hell didn’t he say, “
Of course 5ey would say they are not better off today!”
I knew from that moment it was going to be a debacle. The fix was in and she knew it. She knew she didn’t have to answer anything. Nothing she said was going to be challenged. The split screen view showed smug and condescending on the right, and constipation on the left. Compounded by Trump going down the rabbit holes of vanity about crowd size and relitigating the past. He cares about that. His most rabid followers care. None of the people he needs to reach and influence care.
The only message he needed to get across was the answer to the first question asked to Kamala Harris and Trump didn’t do it until his closing statement. Huge opportunity missed.
The saving Grace may be every thinking person saw the bias and how this was a setup w the moderators.
I'm not sure the low information voters who will make the difference are really the "thinking persons" we need in order to elect the less bad of two very poor candidates. I couldn't get past the call screener a month or so ago when I tried to call Erick with a scenario that may end up playing itself out. {Harris gets elected. Two years in the world (and U.S.) is continuing it's decline. There's a midterm red wave. Lame duck Harris for two years, and then real change furthering conservatives hold on the House, bigger majorities in the Senate, and take back the White House with maybe Desantis, or Younkin, taking the office.} I'll vote for Trump again, but he's not doing what he needs to do to instill confidence in his abilities as President.
Bill, yours is a perfect description of how our system works. Harris is further left than I might like. If her policies fail, that failure will first manifest itself in a conservative resurgence in the midterms and then in her losing her bid for reelection; just as Democrats first retook the House and then the Presidency two years later as Americans rejected Donald Trump.
And as much as I hate to admit it, you're also right about our elections being largely decided by the people who are paying the least attention.
For as much as people are saying she was well prepared, I think she blew it in many ways. This question was an obvious one to prepare for and she clearly did not. There is a lot she could have said in her response - For example: 4 years ago we were struggling in the aftermath of a botched response to the pandemic with high unemployment / weak GDP and we have since grown the economy and gained jobs vs. losing jobs under Trump. She could have then talked about how the response to COVID caused inflation and the mistakes that were made. Unfortunately she has learned from Trump's political success that the new mantra in politics is to never take accountability for any mistakes.
She should then have pivoted to saying what matters is the next 4 years and which one of us will be better and then contrasted her position with some of Trump's dumbest plans including the tariffs and tax cuts for the rich (which she did a little bit talking about the Trump sales tax). Also to her credit she was the only person that said the words "national debt" on stage and accurately described how Trump's plan will cause it to explode even further. Trump clearly does not care about the national debt and at least she pretended to.
The myth that Trump can bring down inflation vs. worsen it should have been attacked and it would have been easy to do it based on the dumb policies he is favoring but she failed / didn't even attempt to.
Harris did an especially poor job of explaining how a tariff has the same ultimate effect as a sales tax. In fact, I don't think she explained this at all.
seems that Trump keeps on putting roadblocks in front in the path to winning. these are times that I am glad that I am not part of his campaign staff, I would have to submit my notice to quit.

Trump's staff are the ones who being over-ridden by that circle of individuals that include Laura Loomer.
He's his own worst enemy. Nobody cares about his crowd size. When he talks about immigrants eating dogs and cats he sounds like a nut.
This is worth a watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNDgcjVGHIw

agree with your point
Here's my questions, Erick. Who in the heck is in charge of prepping him for these debates and events? I'm sure he's difficult to manage but really? This could be a slam dunk if he stayed focus and stop falling for the bait tactics. So many missed opportunities the other night. He could also have overcome the moderators by not lying. Pets being eaten and babies being killed after birth? Give me a break.
I don't know for sure if its true, but one pundit estimated that Trump has told a lie every 90 or so seconds during his debates.
Agreed. The whole thing was disgusting with both candidates behaving badly. God help us.
Don't answer the question asked, answer the question you want to answer.
The actual answer is simply, no.
The answer she gave is aspirational platitudes masquerading as policy.
There is no definition for "opportunity economy".
So, a $50k tax tax break via a write-off.
Harris pledges not to raise taxes on anyone earning less than $400,000 per year. Hmmm
That happens to be Small Business owners. So, write-off 50k in expenses and pay the government more in taxes because the investment drove revenue.
Is it just me, or has Trump lost his "want to" since the assassination attempt?
Trump was denied his vengeance against Biden, his ego can't handle it. Biden will always be the guy who took down Trump and Trump can never redeem himself directly.
I don't think he respects Kamala and does not consider her a worthy opponent. Frankly understandable.

He does seem off his game.
The Capital refused national guard and it was said FBI informants agitated the crowd. Look at some of the videos of capitol police letting in protesters .
You would know better if you had watched the Congressional hearings on the January 6th riot.
Very simply, neither candidate gave anyone a single reason to vote for them.
Trumps response to her opening answer should have been “I don’t know what she said , and I don’t think she does either”
The debate really did not matter to me, as I decided on January 6 of 2001 that, as a true Republican, I would do whatever I could to keep Trump from ever being president again. Now Trump is saying he won the debate "by a lot." Any doubt he will do the same (again) if he is defeated in November?
A good compromise would be to write in Haley. It shows the GOP that there was a vote to be had, and they didn't get it.
Yep, if anyone does the work to actually count all the individual write-in votes. The number of No Votes in the presidential ballot is easily counted.
Does this include voting Harris at the top of the ticket? Leaving it blank or going with a write- in is not as mathematically effective in doing whatever you can to keep Trump away from the WhiteHouse.

There was no "fix." Trump was complaining about ABC being biased well before the debate. He agreed to do it anyway.
It's as if Harris agreed to a debate moderated by Sean Hannity and Mark Levin, only to whine about the moderators being biased afterward.
I'm not sure the low information voters who will make the difference are really the "thinking persons" we need in order to elect the less bad of two very poor candidates. This is such a thorough explanation of what Harris' response might have been that I am deleted the comment I just posted.
