Erick,

I'm not as quick as I used to be even though I quit drinking in June. I'm revisiting this article and obviously I failed to read the sarcasm first time around. To hear you talk about it on the radio, though, I thought the "suggestion" Gaetz was a great pick was an article I read written by someone OTHER THAN YOU. "I will STRIVE to be better in 25!" Please revisit this article on the air so we can learn more about your brilliance with "half your brain tied behind your back." Bill C. 11/22/2024

Personally I would love having a fire brand such as Gaetz to reign over the DOJ, hopefully ridding most of the partisan pond scum in it.

I can't find any evidence Gaetz saved a girl from a drunk driver anyone have that link?

Joke.

At least your explanation about Gaetz and the possible outcome makes it a little more palatable and, hopefully, the outcome will be as you described as he will be voted out through the senatorial process.

However, I won’t breathe yet.

Donated this year, just like last year. Erick, thank you for helping feed the hungry.

Over 150 families visit our food pantry in a small NW NC mountain town every single Saturday.

One hopes Trump policies will MBFA (make bellies full again).

I will donate again, too.

Well I have to admit, I lost it at Noem and I bet Holmon is also peeved. She is absolutely not qualified for that most important job even if she had run her small state well, which is debatable. Good grief - Counterterrorism,

Border Security, ICE, Cybersecurity, FEMA, Aviation & Transportation Security, SS, Maritime Security, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense! We have seen the disaster that is Mayorkas and there is a lot of work needed to get those back in working order. Gaetz just floored me, but I agree with your piece about him. Even he is not the problem Noem is. Tulsi would be better by a mile though a proven leader at handling big problems, big multiple state & federal issues, etc. like a DeSantis (though Trump would never pick him) Stick Noem in D of Interior.

It did not take Trump long to run the clown car off the cliff. Now the Gaetz of Hell are opening.

Might it be a little dangerous to Google, "Matt Gaetz traffic young girl"? Just a thought. What if traffic and trafficking are BOTH TRUE?

Expand full comment

All I know is I clicked on the link and got a bunch of weird stuff so got out quick.

The FBI's sex trafficking investigation was no doubt another of a long list of Democrat Regime deep state attacks on MAGA Republicans. I doubt Gaetz has any involvement in sex trafficking. I think it is more likely that he attended some parties where underaged girls were employed. And in this irrational political #MeToo life destroying time, that is probably enough to destroy him.

However, I note a troubling tone in this piece from Erick and related quotes from some of the house necons. Consider that Trump and MAGA supporters carried ya'll to the finish line. You can ride on those coattails, but stop fooling yourselves that your old washed up Republican views to protect the status quo are still on the table. The people voted for a revolution to extract the old ruling class from its positions of control. That means that cabinet picks are not going to be of the old expected model. Get used to it as THIS is more life what the founders intended... government by the people, of the people and for the people... with all of their imperfections and lack of "elite" credentials.

Any old neocon legislator blocking MAGA picks or the MAGA agenda become enemy #1 for election elimination. Clearly Trump won the mandate, not the old GOP.

I'm pretty sure the federal investigation of Gaetz started during the first Trump administration.

Expand full comment

Indeed. I also happen to think that the "trafficking" allegation is likely a gross exaggeration of whatever really happened. And while I don't like Gaetz as the AG pick, I would be equally unhappy with the establishment types some here are yearning to see.

I worked as a business consultant business process efficiency expert where I was hired to suggest hiring and firing and reorganization. You need to be an outsider to get that done, because you will have a big target on your back and your career would not last if an internal employee.

I think this is the play. If Trump can get Gaetz confirmed, he will only be a two-year term AG.

Expand full comment

Any basis for that belief, Kathy? Or is it just wishful thinking? Perhaps the house will still release its report and we will find out.

Expand full comment

Since not a soul has seen any evidence against Gaetz, he hasn't ever been charged, let alone convicted, it seems quite logical that the allegations are far worse than the reality. It isn't a matter of being certain, it is a matter of considering, first, that presumably, in this country, one is innocent until proven guilty and second and final, that he has not been charged or convicted, thus perhaps much ado about nothing.

Expand full comment

Maybe, but a lot of smoke for there to be no fire. Hopefully, the report will soon be released. But regardless, no way he is remotely qualified to be AG.

Expand full comment

I also do not believe he is suitable for that position. But it has nothing to do with allegations that resulted in no charges, and which came from unknown sources.

Expand full comment

So, why do you think he resigned from the House 2 days before the report was scheduled to be released? Seems like he'd want to preserve his seat in case he did not get confirmed. Could it be that he knew the contents of the report and by resigning he could a.) possibly stop it from being released, and thereby preserve his political viability, or b.) avoid the embarrassment of being expelled?

I'd like to know what's in it.

Yet another comment from The Cult. I don't think the founders ever intended to have the people put idiots in positions of great power. That might be why the right to vote was limited to tax paying, white males. In other words, the "elites."

Your definition of idiot and mine would seem to be at odds.

If you think Gaetz is qualified to be AG, you might just be...

Apologies to Jeff Foxworthy.

Expand full comment

He is well qualified and it is probably confirmed by you and other TDS suffers now having Gaetz Derangement Syndrome. You still have not listed what you think the qualifications for AG are. You did a Google AI copy and paste, but it did not answer the question.

What did I Google and paste?

Don't forget "land owning" as well. The idea is that those who own property are the ones who have the most vested interest in how the country is run. Some say that we need to get back to that system.... I disagree, as it would eventually lead to a few people owning everything with these rotten little fiefdoms scattered around everywhere.

Expand full comment

The problem with you elites isn't that you are ignorant, it is that you know so much that just isn't so.

And with respect to the definition of "cult", it is your jam, not mine. You are stuck in the political status quo cult.

Expand full comment

Apparently, I am not the one who is ignorant of history and/or the actual intentions of the founders. Oh, and the "Of the people" stuff was not from the founders either.

Expand full comment

That is the essence of representative democracy just explained by Lincoln.

Really, you seem to support an elite ruling class continuing to run the country. Good for your bank account, eh?

Expand full comment

No, just pointing out yet another error in your reasoning.

Expand full comment

Right, so you support government by the gilded class, of the gilded class and for the gilded class and you have some historical founding documents to prove it. Go for it and make your case to prove your righteous brilliance in your own mind.

If Trump is really playing 3D chess this is a brilliant move with Gaetz. Iff.

The GOP cashiers Gaetz in the House (and hopefully for all time), the Dems and MSM get their bright shiny object to go after while other, real business is accomplished, and we get a player to be named later for AG when Gaetz's nomination crashes and burns.

Otherwise Gaetz is a "not no, but HELL NO" pick for AG.

I'm OK with Gabbard but Noem is too lite.

This was Kevin McCarthy's revenge play, and it worked like a charm.
