You wrote “ The nation just ensured a Republican Senate can block President Biden.”. Yet Fox News (not that they are anything special) is still reporting that the control of the Senate is still a toss up. May we have your perspective please?

Latins go for that macho Trump bs. Don't believe me? Read this. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/14/us/politics/trump-macho-appeal.html

When Trump is gone, so will their support be gone. As soon as a charismatic latino runs for president or governor as a Democrat, they will be right back to the Democratic party.

AMAZING the protection these "legal" ballots require from poll-watchers as the count drags on.

AMAZING that certified Republican poll watchers were refused entry by Democrats standing guard. Those legal ballots really must need guarding.

AMAZING that all this “legality” prompted Dems to defy a federal judge's order demanding Republican poll watchers be allowed to take their rightful places.

Dems (because it’s all so legit) refused them entry anyway.

AMAZING--no, miraculous!—when "missing" ballots are suddenly unearthed overnight...next day...3 days later... the impossible occurs, and not ONE of them is a Republican ballot. All missing (Hallelujah-FOUND!) legal votes are BIDEN votes. Not a Trump ballot among 'em! God is on His throne. Miracles still happen.

AH-MAZING, I tell you, that Rick Grenell, former ambassador to Germany, former Director of National Intelligence, would dare stand in Nevada, go on TV, and report on the illegalities of the "Harry Reid Machine" stonewalling certified Republican poll watchers.

Why, it's JUST LIKE WHEN ROMNEY DIDN'T PAY HIS TAXES FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS. I real knee-slapper. Ah, the good old days. But all this is legal. These ballots are legit—right, Erick?

AMAZING how these activities only take place in Democrat-controlled cities/states.

Occam's Razor be damned! We got us here a legit election, in spite of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Why would you believe the simple, clear explanation? Believe what Dem apologists have crafted together in these closed-door, windows papered over, vote-counting operations instead.

Occam, put down your razor and step away from the ballots.

As voter fraud videos continue to roll in--a new one early today from a whistle-blowing Post Office employee who watched his supervisors throw ballots into trash cans--this column that Joe Biden was legally elected will not age well.

Farewell. I'm OUT.

There were no "missing" ballots. There was no keeping poll watchers out...they just wanted to be closer than they were. Rick Grenell made the laughable comment that he had no evidence, the media needed to "find" it.

I think you don't understand what "evidence" actually is. IT is not you just claiming something, or someone "tweeting" something. You have to show EVIDENCE for what you are claiming.

The right has none. Which is why most of these, ahem, Republican judges are throwing these cases by Trump out.

I am dictating on my iPhone after midnight so ignore typos. BTW, your screen name is perfect. You could not have chosen a better one.

You would not believe the truth about what is happening in this stolen election no matter how many videos of voter fraud you were presented, or how much eyewitness testimony you heard. Therefore, further discussion is pointless. It would be like arguing with a brick wall. Life is too valuable to waste another precious nanosecond presenting “exhibit A” and “exhibit B” to one whose eyes and mind are closed.

There’s a well known quote by Mark Twain about wrestling with one’s opponent, but I’ll stop short of using it.Good night, and good luck. You will need it.

I am all for a just and fair election no matter who wins I'll accept it. I may not like it, but I will accept it. This election was neither fair nor just. I have always been a little skeptical of the deep state theories. The democrats are making a believer out of me. Win at any cost. My way or no way.

The 4 years of constant negative messaging from the left leaning media brain washed many voters. Older voters who think Joe Biden is a walk to the middle of the Democrat party have been fooled. Biden is nothing but a puppet. I feel the Justice Department missed the mark by not being more aggressive in looking into people like Hunter Biden and others. As a conservative, I am so tired of being bashed by the left when i have tried to be open to discussion. I don't believe the election was stolen as much as it was mismanaged by the Trump team.

I agree it is wrong to reject lawfully cast votes. However, it is not clear all the votes were cast and counted legally, as pretty much everybody knows voting by mail when not properly controlled is subject to fraud. For example, there have been multiple examples of multiple ballots sent to the wrong address and there is no way of proving or disproving that such ballots were not illegally voted. What is provable is that this election had far more votes cast than even a high-turnout election. For example, the latest NY Times vote totals are Biden 72.0 M-votes and Trump 68.4 M-votes, with Trump having about 8 M-votes more than Obama in 2012 60.9 M-votes and nearly as many as Obama in 2008 69.5 M-votes. I believe the 68.4 M-votes Trump has already received far exceed the number of votes any Republican may have ever received. So your assertion that voters rejected the messenger (Trump) doesn't have a lot of merit, particularly in battleground states with margins less than 1% and Trump receiving record numbers of votes.

If you follow Kimberly Strassel (of WSJ) tweet sequence ( https://twitter.com/KimStrassel/status/1324207542151475201 ) she outlines what the Republican's are officially requesting is: 1. Counting votes that arrived before election day or according to state law (some regulations for counting were put in at the last minute without legislative approval - which violates state law). 2. Better access for GOP observers to the vote counting.  3. Challenging vote counting that violate state laws for deadlines. None of that, including requesting a recount in WI is against the law.

Your assumption is that the messenger can be separated from the message, which in the case of Trump's policies is very questionable.  One reason Trump got 68.4 M-votes is he has kept his political promises both to conservatives and to minority communities. When Trump put his first tariffs on China I can recall you posting something like, "this is the start of the Trump recession," which was obviously a bad assumption on your part (not unlike your assumption that averaging inaccurate polls is going to produce an accurate result). It was Trump's willingness to keep his promises, despite the opposition of Republicans like yourself that made life better for blacks, Hispanics, Jews, union workers, etc. that got him a record number of votes. There is no Republican in America who has anything like Trump's tweet stream with 88 M-followers who is able to control the message that reaches the public through a very biased media.

Perhaps, Christians who objected to Trump's sexual immorality from over a decade ago can take joy in having the party supported by the Hollywood crowd control the moral standards of our government through a Biden administration. Perhaps, you can take personal joy in having Trump's defeat avenge the unjust harm inflicted on your family by Trump supporters he probably had never met. As for me, I feel bad for the 57 million people who attended Trump's rally in Butler PA that was about 25 miles from my house. They have probably lost a powerful advocate, who because of his dominant personality will be very hard to replace. I have "Victory in Jesus. My Savior Forever." But the lives of many people in America will arguably take a turn for the worse if Biden becomes President. That is not something for me to rejoice.

57 million people never attended an rally anywhere. Especially in Butler PA. No place on earth would hold that many people.

And regular joes are dying because of Trump. That is not having a powerful advocate.

Expand full comment

It was an obvious typo - 57K people was the number put out by secret service. Photos of the large crowd size are largely available.

Is Trump also responsible for all the regular Joe's who died from Covid in the EU countries? Perhaps Trump is also responsible for the regular Joe's who died in their Wuhan residences when China locked them inside for a couple months, having the army deliver food to their doors. Perhaps Trump is responsible for the Democratic Governors led by NY's Cuomo who sent known Covid patients back into nursing homes. Covid is a deadly disease and attempts to put the blame on US deaths solely on Trump is nothing but false propaganda.

Erick, I typically keep my mouth shut when I disagree with something you write. Can't do that here. The Left cannot "steal" what Donald Trump has not yet won outright. But they can massage the law, the votes, the ballots, the buildings, the watchers, whatever, until the desired outcome is achieved. Perhaps Trump's lawsuits will change nothing, but that doesn't exonerate the other side from wrongdoing.

As for Americans "embracing" Joe Biden? In light of the Biden landslide that failed to materialize, that's a heckuva statement.

It is interesting to read the various comments, from my perch in the city of Philadelphia. On my courier job I picked up election material in a bar to deliver to a ward leader, and after I made known that I was for Trump, a woman said, "We have wood here; we can (physically) beat you." My pro-Trump friends advised me not to get a sign for Trump, lest my house be vandalized. Over a century ago Octavius Catto, a brilliant young black man, was beaten to death for mobilizing black men to vote (Republican); now there is a statue of him outside of City Hall. Despite past corruption, I think the officials here are trying to do a good job. There was a record turn-out of votes in Philly, over 75% for Biden, as Chuck Todd has gleefully shown on NBC News. Let's remember that for people who don't know the Living God, this world is all that they have.

don't you find it odd that at approximately 11 pm, Betting markets around the world went for Trump, and the chinese currency took a dive, then immediately all counting stopped in the swing states? Or rather, the counting went on but was no longer reported as biden had a lead at that point, so we could be subjected to seeing Biden ahead for several days.

Not odd at all. It's what I've been expecting since mail-in (not absentee) ballots were first pushed by Dems for months--and Dem governors pretneded it would be dangerous to vote in person.

It's the exact scenario I've seen coming (and dreaded) for months. It wasn't a lucky guess. At my season in life, having watched politics since I was 13, it's 7 decades of "age guided by experience."

Who would have thought it--that the Republican party would emerge stronger and more numerous, while ejecting the most inept president of our lifetime. Sounds to me like providencial guidance. God bless America, land that we love.

Interesting comment about "inept president". I assume that means "boorish president", "not statesman-like president", "braggadocio president", "Tone-deaf Twitter president". Certainly cannot mean "ineffective president".

Economy, middle east policy, energy independence, record low minority unemployment numbers all indicate that Mr. Trump has been much more effective in policy matters than his predecessors, including the father/son Bush years.

More trickle-money is not the Economy we need in 21st-century America. The upper incomes have enough money to insulate themselves from the rest of us. We need police reform in the cities. Since most of our expansive industrial output has moved offshore, we need to get money into the hands of poor folks, instead of doling it out to comfortable people through the Fed and the stock market casino.

I do applaud Trump's moving of our embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

The main problem with Mr. Trump is that he does not understand the function of true leadership. We need to bring our e pluribus unum people together to govern, and to be governed without being harassed by cops in the cities who are too trigger-happy.

A President should strive to lead all the citizens of our nation, motivating and uniting them as much as possible.

A president ought not to be dividing us, addressing his destructive rhetoric to placate the political base that propelled him into office, while openly despising so many other American citizens.

We need a President who, like Gerald Ford, will announce "Our long, national nightmare is over!"

Understand your point. The trick now is to rekindle E Pluribus Unum in the USA. In past 40 years we have subdivided into sub-cultures all vying for attention. Rather than "Americans", many insist on remaining hyphenated-Americans, fighting with other hyphenated-American groups for power, money, votes. The Dems cast a wide net attempting to pull the various dissatisfied sub-cultures into a particular voting bloc. They've been relatively successful. As Erick notes in other postings, there's a demographic shift making itself felt in the typical voting expectations - young black men, hispanics moving out of the Dem "big tent", suburban white women, young whites shift into the "big tent".

The "melting pot" ideal was always that, an ideal. In the last several decades, we have experienced retrograde motion back to the "my 'hood" mentality within sub-cultures. Trump is actually reaching out to urban blacks more than any POTUS in recent history. That is a stubborn sub-culture to integrate into overall society (not meaning wash out their culture, but find the blend with other sub-cultures, including "white" culture, whatever that is).

As for the destructive rhetoric, sounds like MSM rather than actual policy and statements (Twitter from POTUS notwithstanding, of course :-P ). The destruction and disunity comes from anarchists, BLM, etc. from my perspective, examining both sides of the "newsroom" output.

Ironically it was Hillary's campaign that touted "Better together" and immediately recanted when Trump won. Since that time, the "us/them" has gotten wider and wider, not because conservatives moved further right but because the left moved even further left toward anarchy.
