Most Americans want to retire as early as possible. Seems like only politicians want to go on forever. I wonder why? Could it be that they can't let go of power and money?

Yes. But Trump will never willingly give up the spotlight. And many Republicans have already fully invested in him, tying their fortunes to his. They equate his success with theirs. They will go down with his ship.

I'm 60. That means that the Peanuts comic strip was at its heyday when I was in grade school. We loved that comic strip. Charles M. Schultz retired in 2000. His last comic was a single frame depicting Charlie Brown and Snoopy from the rear, sitting at the end of a dock watching a giant sunset. That final strip ran in the Sunday comics, and Charles Schultz died the next day. Being 60 also means I am a "Boomer." Only an evil person or a crazy person would say that a black person because of their race, or a woman because of her gender needs to step aside to allow a more qualified white male take their place. Apparently you are of the belief that persons in their late 50s should step aside to make way for younger people? I challenge you to tell me how that is any different from my examples above. A person is either competent or they are not. A person is an honest, decent, qualified legislator or they are a self-serving political hack. To equate that to age is wrong. Competence is not a function of age, it is function of competence. I understand why you are making this argument, but in this instance, your exemplar is not only unsound, it is unfair stereotyping. So stop it. There are better ways for you to express your sentiment.

The American Baby Boom ran from 1946 through 1964. That makes the oldest Boomers 76, and the youngest 58. Biden and Pelosi belong to the Silent Generation. Younger isn't automatically better either, as evidenced by the ages of the Anti-Semite Squad: Rashida Tlaib 46, Ilhan Omar 40, and AOC herself, age 33.

Hey, watch it with the boomer insults. There's a 20-year span in age difference between boomers. Not all of us are an 80-year old president who can't remember which continent he is currently visiting. That said, it is time for career politicians like Biden, Pelosi, Feinstein, McConnell, etc., to go home and enjoy time with their families. Although he is not a career politician, this includes Trump.

There is much truth in your statements Erick. I'm going out on a limb and believing you're not "anti-old guy." It's too bad we usually have to get older before we get better, more wise. While I like the idea of letting younger men into strategic leadership positions, I always desire to hear the voices of the older, wiser, "I-bought-the-T-shirt-and-still-have-mine" crowd. McConnel has exhibited a good amount of shrewd wisdom. Some older members may need to exit leadership. But not all.

And besides, I do believe one of my annoyingly younger pastor friends referred to me as a "Boomer." Just sayin! ; )

You do realize that much of your radio audience are Boomers, right? Please quit insulting us. You persist in generalizing about my entire generation and blaming us for everything that has gone wrong with society. While I agree that we have certainly made mistakes, I also think people of other generations are equally responsible for the current problems we face. The Baby Boom generation encompasses people born between 1946 - 1964. JoeBiden and Nancy Pelosi are too old to be Boomers, and Trump, born in 1946, is barely part of the generation. Despite my defense of Boomers, I

personally feel that both parties need to embrace younger leaders, and I definitely believe that both Biden and Trump need to step aside for others in their parties. Biden is visibly suffering from dementia, and Trump is only interested in Trump.

All Boomers, however, should not be forced out of their jobs and into retirement. In fact, people born in 1964 are not even old enough to qualify for Social Security. Not everyone’s situation is the same, and not all 80 year olds are senile as Biden is. When I retired a couple of years ago, I felt that it was time to step aside for others who wanted my job, but not everyone is in that position. I am now a happy retiree who does volunteer work and spends more time with my grandchildren and at my vacation home in Florida. Even when I am in Florida, I often stream your radio show because I respect your knowledge and usually agree with your opinions. Please stop denigrating all Baby Boomers.

Erick - I’m your age, listen to your program in podcast form probably 4 days out of 5, and I agree with you at least 90% of the time. I’m no fan of Biden nor Pelosi nor Schumer. Who I plan to support in 2024 is known to me and but otherwise is not open to public scrutiny. This is my first post and hopefully my last, and I’m writing solely based on the response I and those close to me had to this post.

My concern about today’s missive is that it indicates an entire generation should be excluded from service on the basis of an arbitrary age. That is an “us and them” mentality that undermines the building of a winning conservative consensus and coalition. Let’s focus on individual candidates, their knowledge, beliefs, experience, and demonstrated performance. 30-somethings like AOC and 50-somethings like Kamala Harris are hardly qualified for office and leadership simply based on the generation they belong to - simarly, a “boomer” or even boomer+ with great ideas and demonstrated history of performance should not be excluded from consideration and service. To your points yesterday, current leaders of any age (e.g. Ronna) should have the self-awareness to stand down when they don’t measure up, and be held accountable if they don’t. Those who succeed - again of any age - have an obligation to prepare the generation that will succeed them.

Let us not fall into the trap of blaming an entire group of people for our problems. Let’s hold individuals accountable for their shortcomings, whatever the reason.

I do agree we boomers did do some damage to our country. But on the other hand look at the riots of the summer of 2020, not many boomers were participating in those riots. I believe DeSantis is the beginning

of the new consecutive. In a way Donald Trump has turned the Republican Party to make a way for someone like DeSantis. I am impressed with the Iraq/ Afghanistan veterans that have been elected to office. We need lots more. I am retired and some days I would like to get up get ready and go to work. It is hard for the old plow horse to go out to pasture.

This is the same idiot who said he preferred Stacey Abrams over Kemp. Who totally screwed over Loeffler and Perdue for a Democratic majority in the Senate. What's it gonna take for "conservatives" to give up on this huckster. Sheesh.

Age is not just a number. Age represents valuable experience and (hopefully) godly character. At the very least there is stability in age. Trump seems to have learned from his experience. He has left 2020 in the rearview mirror and is moving forward with a new campaign.

What I hate are the detractors. They think if they sue and impeach him over and over again (on false charges) that he will go away. Trump should NOT go away. He is the most valuable leader in the Republican Party. He never gives up on us!

Let him finish the race he started. We can all learn from his tenacity and Patriotism.

The American people don't trust Trump! I voted for him the first time and I liked his policy changes over the next few years but then it changed. I think his ego got the best of him and he became hostile

to anyone who didn't agree with him and that included the American people!!! I will not vote for the SOB again and a lot of my friends have expressed the same!!! I hope the Republican will see this and vote him out in the primary but what this will do to the Republican Party in the mean time? The Liberals are just really celebrating this event! Now they could run an idiot an win>

Trump says some stupid things. But with Biden in office delivering a constant stream of idiocy, if it is not clear to voters that this is a fight with the establishment owned media, then the voters are the idiots.
