If you haven't already, check out Lisa Napoli's "Up All Night," a history of the founding of CNN. (Although there is some "adult" language in the text, it's a great read. The audiobook, which she reads, is highly entertaining.)

The conclusion I drew was that, in 1980, Ted Turner was attempting to do IN ATLANTA what you had done. Having sold the network later, he lost control, and we are where we are today, a rather sad pass.
