Maybe this can be the last election where Republicans are outplayed by Democrats

Wonderful, now this is all proclaimed to be old news. That is to everyone except the people who voted in the primary. Where was the opposition research by Walker's campaign and others? The Democrats find all this stuff out, then promote the candidate with the greatest number of closeted skeletons while the Republican base only pays attention to who blathers the most toward owning the Dems.

I have watched the clips of Robinson over time, and all seemed good. What little did I and others know. The saying is fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. How many times have we been fooled by those picking and promoting people who are bad candidates?

This is yet another example of being out-maneuvered, of the abject failure of the GOP to reveal what people knew during the primary so GOP voters could vote with knowledge, and the liberal-progressive Democrats adroitly and skillfully again releasing damaging information about a GOP nominee when the impending damage is irreversible and they can’t help but win as a result. Think Alabama senate race several years ago.

Democrats in NC take extreme umbrage at the thought of a Republican residing in the Governor’s Mansion let alone a black Republican at that that. That why in the past 120 plus years Republicans have occupied the mansion a paltry 16 years.

They groom their candidates from the legislature, to a state-wide office, then the mansion.

All recent Democratic Governors fit this mold as does the current nominee who was protected by resigning from the State Senate on the very day the bathroom bill, which then enjoyed wide support, was voted. His excuse was he needed to prepare to run for A.G.

The current Democratic nominee for Lt. Governor is the daughter of the long time Democratic Governor and political power house Jim Hunt. She has moved up the legislative ladder and her run for Lt. Governor is but an all too obvious play for an eventual run for the mansion.

Democrats always, without exception, pour millions on dollars into state-wide races in NC. GOP candidates are out fund raised and spent many multiples of their GOP opponents.

If Mark Walker cannot run now or be a write-in candidate, and even so, the GOP needs to fully support its strong candidates for Lt. Governor, A.G., other state-wide offices, and the legislature which is due all credit for turning NC into a strong free enterprise state.

Much is at stake in this election.

Yes, it will open a path for Kamala in NC. Yet another example of a poor-quality candidate, endorsed by Donald Trump and embraced by MAGA, causing the Republican Party to lose winnable races. But NC is not the worst of it, as we will have the same situation at the top of the Republican ticket in November.

I’m just so disappointed by all of this new to me information.

The absolute worst part about Trump is that they can’t do what he did: win once. Now he might win twice. But he’s equally likely to lose. And these guys won’t win once

I'm not MAGA but consider myself a conservative independent thinker and voter. These kinds of things are so troubling and I'm weary of it all. It bothers me immensely that so many in the GOP knew things about Robinson but kept quiet knowing that the Democrats were bound to bring out this stuff to help Stein win the governor's seat. I expect this from Democrats but those in the GOP should have known it would end this way and here we are. We can't win because too many love losing.

If Harris wins, the GOP would be well-served to take a tip from the Dems and not nominate candidates that have had to go through a primary and have too much dirty laundry to do.

I expect the smoke filled rooms (ok, rooms with trash cans overflowing with spent Juuls and empty Zyn cans) to return for '28.

"we all know that had I said anything they’d have said it was because I endorsed Mark Walker or because I’m NeverTrump."

Absolutely.

Can Trump please quit sabotaging local races with his hand-picked candidates? TIA

Kari Lake, Roy Moore, Hershel Walker, Dr. Oz, this bozo in NC - Gee I wonder if there are any ramifications of having our standard bearer / cult leader for nearly a decade be a moron who succumbs easily to performative flattery.

Considering the animus Trump has for people in GA with actual dignity, I fully expect our next senate candidate to be someone like Colton Moore.

Sadly both parties allow trash like this to run and win office . You would think someone with this history would not want his family / friends dragged into the mud. Our political class has no shame . With a 98% plus re-election rate , why should they?

I’ve run into people like this several times in my life. It’s all about power for them. The first time I ran into it was at a part time job I had at a National bookstore chain. One of the young women, in her mid-20s, planned on moving to DC to “sleep around and find the best power broker.” While I wasn’t sure if her political leanings, she seemed to be more in the Republican/Libertarian camp. On another occasion, I was sitting at a bar listening to some young state Democrat politician staffers. Their discussion centered around how easy it is to fool the voters, their constituents. lol looks lie we’ve all been fooled.

Since Mark was losing in polls, it’s the perfect opportunity to run with the same game plan the Dems used… Force Mark out and replace him with a shiny new candidate. It’s worked for Kamala, so… But also - immediately flip a new narrative - such as stats showing Biden-Harris offloading tremendous numbers of illegals (like Haitians) into city districts where they want to flip the electorate.

It's only a governor of a minor state. It really does not matter much with respect to real political concerns. Frankly, most GOP or DEM governors have to run as moderates and govern as moderates. Only states like Minnesota are wacked left, but they will always be that way.

If Republicans in NC don't show up to vote because they're disgusted with Robinson and the GOP (and the fact Trump pushed Robinson on the GOP), it certainly is a "real political concern" that Harris could win NC. Candidates matter. Trump's penchant for pushing seriously flawed candidates just because they've flattered him matters.
