You can’t get much more “right on the money” than you were today, Erick.

May the Lord help us live as you have pointed out, like Christ by the grace and mercy of God.

Erick, this is an irresponsible post. Criticizing public health authorities is legitimate, but arguing that they are not to be trusted is an extremely dangerous thing to do.

Set aside Covid. Set aside Monkeypox. Instead, imagine a future pathogen twice as deadly and contagious as either one. Spreading distrust of our health authorities could decimate our ability to respond effectively.

The health authorities have created this distrust. It is palpable! People aren’t stupid, we can see it! Erick is only saying what should be said. The distrust existed long before Erick described it.

You're right about the distrust already existing: all the more reason not to stoke it any further.

If Southeastern Baptist Theological allows me, I will mention you as someone who shaped my doctoral project/dissertation. You are also quoting Jeremiah 29:7 which is one of the foundational tenets of that project. Christian nationalism is nothing more than a pragmatic (a focus on the now rather than the not yet) short-sightedness which ultimately will rob believers of faithful obedience. Absolutely great article Erick!

Oh good for you. I was up there working on my Ph.D., but I decided I really needed to focus on RTS and finish the masters before I pivot.

Thanks & something else for me to include in prayer! I knew I could talk intelligently, but I finished my M.Div so I'd actually know what I was talking about....!

I just saw a video on YouTube the other night put out buy a group called BigThink that focused on the anti-intellectualism and anti-science attitudes in this country. It featured Neil deGrasse Tyson and Bill Nye pontificating about the threat of climate change denial and anti-vaccine attitudes. (Which are actual problems, to be sure)

But of course, no mention of the rampant anti-science attitudes on popular political issues on the left like when life begins, genetic hardwiring of sex, and efficacy of shit downs. Along with the other examples you mentioned in the piece.

They did touch on the fact that the roots trace back to the 60s and that generation's embrace of the idea that we all have our own truth. That truth is shaped by experience and can not be objectively known. So for nearly 60 years society has essentially been telling people that if you feel something is right or wrong, that makes it so. And that is a huge problem on the left and the right. It is actually probably the biggest threat we face as a nation, accepting expertise and the idea that there is objective truth.

Either a Freudian slip or an intentional pun, but the phrase following "and efficacy of" in the second paragraph is hysterical!

This is a good time to read the Book of Jeremiah and draw comparisons to what we’re living today.

And it is a good time to read Rev: 6 as it is happening today around the world.

Excellent on the multiple hypocrisies with regards to our Health and Political institutions. I have never been so disillusioned with them--they are broken.

With regards to Cheney--he is one of the many neoCons I loathe. His warmongering has cost us trillion$, and destroyed millions of lives in the Middle East. But, he has yet to apologize for any of his costly and senseless aggression. HE and his ideology are the real threat to democracy.

Erick, excellent article as usual. The fact that wokeness, politics, and pure idiocy has infiltrated our public health system is extremely disheartening. The CDC held a stellar reputation and was respected worldwide for over 70 years. The accomplishments such as eliminating malaria as a health threat in the U.S., discovery of legionnaire's disease, smallpox eradication, HIV research, and recently the emergency response and containment of the Ebola outbreak are just a few of the many public health achievements that reinforced CDC excellent reputation. All of that prestige was totally decimated by the Covid response. What should have been a crown achievement of the nation's premier public health institution was totally bungled due to politics, political correctness, virtue signaling, condescension towards the "non-elite", and outright lies in order to control the U.S. citizenry. It shows how 70 years of accomplishment can be totally ruined. Now, the Assistant Sec of HHS is filming public service announcements promoting puberty blockers and genital mutilation surgery for children. God help the U.S.

As I read those that commented before me, they really said it all and you deserve every last one of them. I live in a Senior living center that has about 400 people and there are a lot of us that are Christians but I concentrate on those that are not because they need the help. And you help me with your outstanding articles.
