The Easy, The Hard, and the Truth

The weekend news out of Israel has been horrific. Our ally suffers, and we must stand with the nation.

Here at home, it is easy for the right to blame Biden for enabling Hamas via Iran and money. It is easy for the left to defend Biden.

What is really hard is for everyone to understand the truth of what happened.

What happened is a vicious terrorist state has been secretly planning an attack on Israel for some time, and Israeli intelligence, perhaps distracted by Knesset fights over judicial reform, was caught relatively flat-footed. It led to, per capita, what amounts to three 9/11s.

What is also hard for people to accept, but is true, is that the coddling of Iran by the left and West did, in fact, help Hamas. Just this weekend, Secretary of State Blinken said on Meet the Press, “Iran has unfortunately always used and focused its funds on supporting terrorism.”

That, of course, raises the issue of the $6 billion sent to Iran. The Biden administration wishes us to believe that money will be used for humanitarian purposes, despite Iran’s Ayatollah saying Iran would use it however they wanted. Never mind that money is fungible and $6 billion for food can be used for arms while the $6 billion from Biden can now be used for food.

The Biden Administration also says the money is still in a Qatari bank account. Be advised that Qatar has come out praising Hamas’s attacks on Israel. So how exactly can we be sure the money is still there?

The hard truth is that it is easy to go after Biden for the $6 billion, but this attack has been planned for a long time — far longer than the money has been available.

One should, instead, look to the Biden Administration turning a blind eye to Iran selling China oil for the past two years. The Strait of Hormuz is relatively easily blockaded by ships. I know. I lived in that part of the world at a time when blockades happened and at a time when the United States Navy regularly stopped and inspected ships.

The oil to China could have been stopped. Instead, Biden let it go. For the past two years, China has bought Iranian oil, and Iran has used that money to fund this attack on Israel as well as provide Russia with drones in Ukraine.

While that was happening, the Taliban began shipping leftover American armaments to Hamas. We have documentary evidence that American weaponry from Afghanistan made it to Hamas. We have documentary evidence it was used against Israel this weekend.¹

The hard truth for the left to accept and for Democrats to acknowledge is that Joe Biden, through failures, arrogance, and more set in motion a chain of events that allowed a mass causality attack on Israel and provoked a war in the Middle East.

The irony is that so much of the left claimed Donald Trump would trigger such a war. It did not come then. It only came after Joe Biden allowed Iran to make money and provided arms to the Taliban.

We have a new Axis of Evil taking shape before our eyes. China, Iran, and Russia are supporting each other, terrorism, and anti-democracy initiatives around the world. It comes in the form of disinformation campaigns, spying, funding terrorists, using contractors to destabilize nations, and all-out war.

The hard truth for the right to accept is that this is not time to withdraw from the world stage. The free world needs us. That includes Israel. It also includes Ukraine. It is not at all a coincidence that Iran is funding both Russia’s efforts there and Hamas’s efforts in Israel.

Sadly, just as so many on the left will refuse to acknowledge the reality of Biden’s role in enabling this, too many on the right will deny the inter-related nature of Ukraine, Israel, Iranian weapons, Chinese money, and Russian efforts to destabilize Western Africa.

Lastly, it is a hard and painful truth that foreign hostiles have most likely crossed into our nation from an unsecured and porous border. The left and the Democratic Party need to come to terms with this national security issue. They are so focused on the white nationalist militia that could sabotage our power grid that they’ve ignored the growing body of evidence of foreign hostiles crossing our borders and waiting.

All of this was foreseeable, and all of this is unfortunate. The Israeli death toll is part of Joe Biden’s body count.

1. Until we get more than anti-Ukraine and pro-Hamas sites claiming Ukraine sold their badly needed and in short supply weapons to Hamas, I will continue treating that as a disinformation campaign by this new Axis of Evil.
