It is interesting that the popularity of Trump does not materialize in wins for GOP candidates. My take is the "popularity" is relative.

Fear of public speaking ranks higher than fear of death. That really does not mean more people would rather be in the coffin than giving the eulogy. It means people actively avoid both.

I am not sure how much the perceived popularity of either is going to effect turnout and down ballot.

For Trump there is definitely a correlation to loosing. That is rejection of Trump et al.

I want to see people reject liberal policies, that has nothing to do with Biden to man and everything to do with Biden the Democrat.

I remember back in the early days of SNL (when they were funny) I remember a Weekend Update segment where Chevy Chase announced that the UN had 'passed a resolution that equates Zionism with Racism.' The punch line was 'When reached for comment, Sammy Davis Jr.' (who was Jewish) said, "Great! Now I can hate myself!"

So the UN has been anti-Israel at least for the better part of 50 years. But what do you expect from a group of nations - the vast majority of which are hell-hole countries led by dictators & despots who torture, starve and subjugate their people in order to keep their hold on power and now has Iran as the hrad of its Human Rights Council?

2024 Senate Races: Don't worry about West Virginia, the Democrat who runs for Manchin's seat will win. Remember: "My daddy and my granddaddy always voted for Democrats, so I will too. It's just how we vote in our family".

As for the rest of those races, never underestimate the GOP's ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

While I generally agree, in this case we can probably call WV as a Repub win. A few months ago, Jim Justice, the incredibly popular Republican governor, announced he would run. Thats when it was all over for Joe M.

But never fear. There are still plenty of ways the R's can screw this up. Just the other day Kari Lake announced her Arizona senate run.

I'm sure the GOP will find some way to screw it up. Remember, Republicans like to hold office, but Democrats like to hold power. Democrats are in it to win it. Republicans are in it just to get paid.

Beware of the stealth candidates to replace Biden. They will have the same puppet master.

For me, it was all about the gravy.

Yes. Absolutely. I became an Erick paid subscriber 1 year ago when I heard about his gravy recipe.

Signed up. Got the recipes. Made gravy. Holy*rap this stuff is good.

One suggestion. Before you pour it all over your turkey you should make sure your home defibrillator is fully charged. It's loaded with butter.

Cheers

Where do we go now to re listen to the show like hour 1 2 and 3? May be having a brain fart but can’t remember. Thought it was just via substack

Spotify

Expand full comment

What happened to accessing directly through substack?

Expand full comment

You do know you can skip ahead through the ads, right?

Expand full comment

Haven’t tried Spotify yet. I know you could skip them on substack but why did substack kick the 3 hours out?

Expand full comment

Spotify skips ahead and back 15 seconds. I use Pocketcasts which lets you choose so I do 45 seconds.

I don't know. Sorry! I've never listened through Substack.

Crazy! You can power through commercials that way or I should say you USED to be able to 😀

The commercials on Spotify (all Erick's BTW) have taken up so much of the program I hardly listen anymore. After the opening monologue, it feels like there are more commercials than content. Particularly annoying are the ones where Erick tries to tie the product into a news story: "Politicians are so smelly you need the Eden Pure." Rush started that practice, and it's as insulting now as it was then. Other podcasters (Rogan, Greenwald, Bari Weiss) use a better format for commercial breaks, lumping them together with more space in between.

So you are literally speaking my language. I haven’t listened to him live since June I think 100% due to commercials. I will ALWAYS support him financially but it’s not because he is a conservative it’s because he is a Christian with balls I wish I had in my industry to speak truth in this God forsaken world we live in......And I like his recipes as well 😏

With that said, I don’t have time for all the commercials so I just read the high points and keep on keeping on with my overtly busy days if that makes sense

Thanks. I am a paid subscriber, or should be if the automatic renewal is working, so wasn't sure why I was being asked to subscribe.

I received the recipes. Thank you. The recipes came with a message asking me to upgrade to a paid status. Is there a separate subscription for the recipes?

It's a separate subscription that Substack makes us offer. As of right now, the free side of the recipes lists gets everything the paid side does. That may change in the future but not right now.

I really do believe that people who are kind of in the middle and really dislike both Trump and Biden are going to go with RFK. Heck, even agree with some of his positions. However, he loses me on climate change and guns, so it is still a no for me. I hope both Tesla and Toyota fight back the union. Even it they have to leave the country to do it. Douglas Murrays account of his trip to Israel is heart breaking. All these protestors should be forced to read it and see the footage. Well, wasn't some entity "fact checking" DeSantis because he didn't personally fly the planes he sent over to rescue people from Israel? The media really is stupid.

Listening to the show just a little while ago, I heard you mention your appreciation for what Hillary Clinton, of all people, said on The View. Found the video and it was an amazingly concise appraisal of the entire Israeli-Hamas situation. Got to admit I have some new found respect for her.

Expand full comment

I trust Hillary just about as far as I can throw her. She always has ulterior motives, either to be in power or to line her pockets. That is just my opinion.

Expand full comment

I don't trust her either. And she may have a motive to what she said, but that doesn't mean what she said is incorrect. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Beware Hillary taqiyya. She may be positioning for the POTUS nod, pushing Handsome Newsom out.

Watching the video, which I appreciated, made me realize how Hillary could unseat Biden in a primary. She has historically had the DNC in her pocket, and she seems like a spring chicken compared to the current POTUS.

Someone on another forum today made a good point, which I'm not doing justice. Nikki Haley's daughter being on TikTok could have been a threat to national security. Was her smartphone ever in the Haley household while Nikki was serving as ambassador to the UN? Agreement with the TikTok terms of service means giving up all privacy, to the device being used and to others in the same household, including their microphones.

Vivek can come across as an ass, but Nikki can’t be big britches about Tik-Tok when her own adult child uses it too…. 25 isn’t 15.

I read a lot of political cartoons and satire such as the Babylon Bee. Sometimes, I'm seriously offended (not by the Bee). We all need to be offended now and again. It teaches us something about ourselves.
