Getting to the extraordinary price being paid by Russia I was curious how the Russian losses compared with those of the US over time. It was very enlightening. Since 1980 the US Military has lost 60,770 people in total. Of that total: 28,995 (48%) were due to accident, 5,687 (9%) due to hostile action, 2,724 (4%) to homicide, 10,923 (18%) to illness, and what bothers me most 10,871 (18%) is due to suicide. That last one really gets to me

During the entire Vietnam conflict the US lost 47,434 KIA and in Korea another 33,739. So all together the US has lost 86,860 people to hostile action since the end of WWII. Compare that to 70K to 200K lost by the Russians in Ukraine. That is just staggering. Such a indifference to the people sent in to fight the Russian wars. Its staggering. But who is surprised? This was the Soviet story in WWII as well.

The high and mighty Squad is about to be drawn and quartered. They’re cowards anyway so they’ll probably flip to preserve their continued presence in Congress.

I love it, the democrats are starting to eat their own.

What the heck…. I would hire Mike Pompeo again in a heartbeat. He didn’t take any crap from foreign countries and he was great at getting hostages home. The hell with 2028. You put the best person in the job.. I suppose DeSantis is out of luck for anything meaningful in the Trump administration when his governorship is done.

Could they just pass out the butter to people who are smart enough to know butter is dairy? If this isn't the perfect example of why we need to dismantle the regulatory state of the government, I don't know what is.

The reason is dumb. BUT i do have a relative who had a milk/dairy allergy and there is butter that does not contain dairy and does need to check. But he says unless is specifically says "Dairy free" he wouldn't buy it or eat it. Because you have to assume unless it says DF its not.

Couple of things on the liberals reflection on their loss.

1. I haven't been able to find that They/Them ad anywhere on YT or, well anywhere. Interesting. its been scrubbed from the internet.

2. Susan Wilde is correct but the dems wont hear the message. Because they are now in bed with the immoral alphabet group and will not be able to break away. But she is correct. Abortion may be important to some but its only about 3% or less of the population that actually seeks an abortion and at this moment, anyone anywhere can get one. Then the TG issue of men playing in womens sports. Its unacceptable to even my most liberal friends. They say a lot of things and believe in some wierd stuff. But one thing we will always agree on is that and its why my left leaning biden voting in laws, did not vote for president this year. They voted but left the top blank.

I only know very few that were actual "harris" supporters.

That darn misogynist Trump: He's made three - THREE - highlevel appointments already, and only two - TWO- of them are women.

Trump should declare himself female and thus become the first female president. (Sarcasm)

My concern is not his cabinet. I have two concerns.

- We have to make it to Jan 20th. We haven't yet.

- That trump needs to clean house the second he enters the white house. if it were I, the moment I crossed the threshold of the front door I would shout loudly, "Your all fired". because nobody in the white house staff can be trusted at its current membership.

My concern is that he wont go 100% and he needs to. It has to be a clean sweep.

Maybe someone on here can enlighten me on this: I have always operated on the assumption that the higher levels of government, i.e. Cabinet officials and bureaucracy heads who were appointed by the President, serve at the President's pleasure. Traditionally, those people offer their resignation at the time a new President takes office. But people like Powell saying they will take legal action if Trump fires him? Is that even legitimate?

The Federal Reserve Bank is an independent agency established by Congress in 1913. POTUS appoints the Fed Chariman for a four-year renewable term. Legally, the Fed Chairman can be removed for "cause" (intention wrongdoing) but not for policy differences.

Does he have the authority to fire Powell? I think Trump or the president does. Heck even Biden wasn't too happy with him.

There are certain positions with statutory fixed terms that can only be vacated for cause, as I understand. FBI, CJCS, Fed Chair, etc.

Thank you. That's very helpful.
