I could see efforts at public places (if allowed) being effective but a lot of neighborhoods do not allow solicitation. So what am I missing? I tend to agree with you. Last year's election cycle here in VA I spent numerous hours with my local Republican candidate for the General Assembly knocking on doors. The lists were supposed to be solid Republicans or those leaning Republican - that was about 70% accurate. And those who supported my candidate were already going to vote for him. He lost 65%-35% because we are in Northern VA which is about 65/35 Dems. It was interesting, but I don't think it accomplished much if anything. He was outspent $500K to about $30K also.
This election cycle kind of reminds me of the 1972 Olympic Basketball gold medal game - corrupt refs had the US and USSR repeat the final 3 seconds three times before the USSR was able to put in the winning basket.
