I wonder if (ineffective) Governor Newsom is going to let the people in Malibu who owned multi-million dollar houses on the Pacific the permit to rebuild. After all, if climate change is legit (not), surely he couldn't allow it as their houses would soon be underwater (thanks to climate change)...which is a hoax. Time will tell. He's probably already promised land deals on that property to condo developers.
Is it likely the insurance companies will deny coverage in LA and ascribe it to climate change? For fires? Hurricanes? Flooding?
The unfortunate answer is yes, I suspect.
If you could shift away for r minute from the fires to chalk up the amount of environmental wreckage-globally -and stop-for a minute-on the politics-your insights would carry more credence.
Contrary to popular belief, while insurance companies are keeping an eye on climate change, it hasn't made a material impact on losses and premiums. In fact, a state insurance commissioner would probably call foul on any insurance company policy action based on "climate change", since it's not made a material difference.
The biggest factors are 1) more building in dangerous areas (coastal areas, tornado-prone areas, fire-prone areas, etc.) 2) larger, pricier structures and 3) greater building and replacement costs.
Once adjusted for these factors, losses have been flat.
Of course, if California becomes more loss-prone due to poor wildfire prevention and abatement, insurers will pull out or charge higher premiums.
I’d politely suggest they’re doing much more than ‘keeping an eye on it.’
Their business models-again, globally, not merely in Florida or California-no longer work. Severe weather outside the US has turned their hedging models on its head.
Skadden, not exactly a tree-hugging law firm, put this analysis out just over a year ago..
“insurers..are overexposed to climate risk. They could respond to the gap in climate-related insurance coverage by underwriting and offering policies to consumers who would suffer without such safeguards. But determining how to seize that opportunity is not easy..”
An interesting read-above and beyond the fires in LA.
The political food-fight now reminds me of a Prof who used to have a sign on his door:
Ultimately, the Davos Darlings want us all flat broke, unable to travel, eating bugs and sweltering/freezing in the dark, living in neglected, corporate-owned houses where you’re forced to pay high rent and you’re lucky if a repairman comes out within four weeks. Remember what they said back in 2020 as the pandemic raged: “You will own nothing, and be happy”. Also, remember what Trump said at one of his rallies: “They’re not coming for me. They’re coming for you. I’m just in the way”.
As NASA, other climatologists, and I have pointed out several times, climate change is a HOAX perpetrated by the Biden administration in an attempt to control the citizens of this country. They tried to force us to buy EV cars, take away our gas cook stoves and furnaces, and accept electricity as the only acceptable clean fuel. Of course, electricity is generated by coal, natural gas, and wind. Fortunately, the incoming Trump administration knows that it is a HOAX, and hopefully all of our energy costs will go down.
Make no mistake, this was never about forcing us into electric cars. It’s about forcing us out of cars altogether, and ultimately having our ability to travel being severely restricted. As they already know, electric cars are made for people who don’t go anywhere.
So if climate change is the reason for every emergency and disaster I wonder if some teenager that gets knocked up in the backseat can use that as a excuse or some driver that runs a stop sign and T bones a vehicle can use the same excuse. It’s very easy to push this off as climate change and ignore the facts about being prepared.
I've commented on multiple sites that despite climate change (whether true or hoax), it is still the duty and responsibility of public officials to keep the public safe by making a threat assessment of the conditions as they exist today and acting upon that knowledge to mitigate the threat. Ignoring fire abatement strategies that are tried and true, allowing existing water sources to be put out of commission during the Santa Ana winds, not allowing water to drain into Southern California and not creating new sources of water storage were all remarkably short- and long-sighted and, in my opinion, are negligent actions that should be punished. I think as the citizens of California emerge from their daze, you are going to find many more people looking for someone to blame and there are a lot of them. I'm pretty sure this is a game-changing political event. It for sure is a game-changing City planning event.
"Climate change", "global warming", whatever, are terms coined by the ruling elites of the world to scare and alarm us sheeple into compliant masses. It's a hoax and scam to provide them with power, control and money. Usual story.
God created the weather when he created the universe. He controls all.
I first heard it from the Adam Corolla video you attached to your show notes about a week ago, but I've since heard it from several Hollywood actors: This event WILL change how many in Hollywood and LA - and perhaps all of California - vote. The pendulum has swung too far left, and now these liberal ideas, which I honestly believe were well-intentioned by the many who supported them, have proven disastrous. The fires are the penultimate event in a series of missteps by the left including how they've handled the homeless, drug addiction, and crime. Before, it was theoretical; now, it's personal.
The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way.
Constraints are liberating. Children with no rules, no consequences are unhappy. Parents who do not set boundaries are being selfish, they are not loving their children.
The policies that contributed to this are well intentioned for selfish purposes, they are loving their neighbors or nature.

It seems like people will fill that God-shaped hole in their soul with all kinds of crap.
If it weren't for "karma", some folks would have no religion at all.

Your assessment of our world just gets clearer and clearer, and your words are enlightening. Thank you for what you do.

Believing in the gods of Climate Change means that you are never wrong.
True believers can never be convinced. They will not listen to anything. It is easier to just believe than to compare arguments.
