Critical thinking is being able to logically and dispassionately examine an argument to determine if it valid and honest is a skill, it requires work. To be able to see a pending action and proactively support it or not requires confidence in the critical thought process.

I agree with everything you said. I also have learned that I don't have to prove I am right to be right, but I at least like to try and persuade.
It's always us that can allow for shades of grey and see the other side's point. They have given that up, which is a weakness and that's why they seek to control all flow of information.
