I’m not sure the last time the opposing party’s response drew more coverage than the sitting President’s address to a joint session of Congress, but Tim Scott has done it. He’s done it in a way that outfoxes the progressives. By declaring America is not a racist nation, Scott is facing an incoming barrage from the intellectual elite of the left denouncing him. But that actually puts Scott in the driver’s seat and allows the GOP to use the incoming fire against the left.
He also forced both Kamala Harris and Joe Biden to agree with him...somewhat. Harris is being raked over the coals by the Chicago Tribune, among others, for her statement, although she qualified it by claiming that "racism must not be ignored", giving cover to the media that amplifies every statement made by someone who is "disrespectful" to a black person (unless they're Republicans) as "proof" that America is racist.
The constant drumbeat of "America is a racist country" has done only one thing, that I can see. It's made people who actually are racist, or who've had an internally racist response to some outrage in the news, no longer ashamed to admit it, because they've made it appear mainstream, and what is mainstream is therefore acceptable.
No one cares about being labelled a "racist" anymore...even though once they'd have been horrified and ashamed that people believed that of them.
I’m not rich, but am white, vegan, do juice fasts and am a believer. I understand generally where you are going with your white rich comment, but it’s a little broad and some may take you less seriously because of it.
Tim Scott definitely shows there is an effective strategy to deal with the Progressives. I'm not sure Mark Robinson, Lieutenant Governor of the North Carolina, is on your radar but you might want to check him out as well. I think the description "fearless" comes to mind and we are going to see a lot more of him in the future.
The coverage of Scott’s rebuttal far outweighs the pathetic ratings Biden’s speech received. One can only hope this means people are beginning to tire of the garbage.
