It is getting brutal for Joe Biden and the Democrats. The President, in press polling, now has his lowest approval rating by average. The ABC/Washington Post poll shows Americans want Republicans in charge of Congress by 10%. That is the highest in the history of the poll.

Other polling shows, "In the eight states expected to have the closest Senate elections...Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin...Biden’s overall job approval rating [is] 33 percent."

Virginia showed voters actually prefer Democrat policies on a host of issues, but the voters were voting to preserve their culture. The reality is voters understand economically that high gas prices and inflation did not exist when Trump was President. They also understand politicians are deflecting blame and responsibility and the voters will hold the accountable anyway. They understand Joe Biden and the Democrats control everything. The worst thing that happened to the Democrats was winning both seats in Georgia. Now they have no scapegoat.

Right now, in Washington, Democrats are preparing their Build Back Better plan. Yesterday, they trumpeted a Moody report that showed the plan would not contribute to inflation. Except, because the Democrats are front loading spending and back ending tax increases, even Moody acknowledges it will increase inflation next year.

On top of that, the Senate Joint Committee on Taxation shows the plan will give tax cuts to two-thirds of people making a million dollars or more. Democrats have suddenly become the party of the rich. They will pay for it by increasing IRS audits on the middle class — something the press has downplayed, but is contemplated in the legislation.

All the Democrats have now is the Build Back Better plan. They have convinced themselves it is their solution to everything. They now claim it is the solution to high gas prices, inflation, climate change, education, healthcare, childcare, eldercare, immigration and hemorrhoids.

All the Democrats possess is a shovel and all they can do is keep digging. They have shackled themselves to legislation that polling tells them people love. But people don’t really know the details. People don’t know the middle class will get more IRS audits so the rich get tax cuts. People don’t know it will not solve gas price problems. People intuit it will cause more inflation and that’s a problem.

Democrats would be smart to kill Build Back Better and run on the bipartisan infrastructure plan. But they have spent a year working on this legislation. They have come too far. They have to pass it. Eventually, and we are almost at that point, they will decide they’re going to lose anyway so they might as well get what they can out of the Treasury.

Doom is coming for the Democrats. The GOP will take back the House. The odds go up daily that the GOP will take back the Senate too. The odds go up daily the GOP will pick up over a hundred state legislative seats.

This, by the way, is one reason we don’t need a rush to a wholesale remake of conservatism. Voters are rejecting progressives for what they know of the left and what they know of the right. Regardless of how conservatives want to rebrand themselves, voters have branded progressivism as progressivism.

The last time that happened the progressives had to start calling themselves liberals until to voters tired of liberalism. This time, progressives have soiled the progressive label far faster than the last time. By next year, they’ll be back to being liberals.

Meanwhile, conservatives can still be conservative without the need for rebranding.
